I remembered something last night. During the primary GOP establishment turned its back on Cruz. Remember such great luminaries in the GOP leadership coming out saying they would prefer Trump over Cruz?

When did that happen? I recall Graham, who said "If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody could convict you," endorsing Cruz once it was clear it was him or Donald.

Who is the GOP "luminary" that endorsed Trump over Cruz?

A man who called people losers, attacked Gold Star mothers, handicapped reporters and Judges with Mexican heritage could never get the Democratic nomination, why do you think Trump ran as a Republican. Pussygate would not have been as big a deal if it did not otherwise fit in with much of his personality. It would have been a scandal, but the apology would have been much more believable. That is why Bill Clinton's Lewinski scandal did not take him down, he was otherwise likeable and people wanted to believe his apology. Bill Clinton had otherwise treated women with respect and dignity.

If Clinton were a republican he'd have no career left. A republican would never get away with what Ted Kennedy pulled at Chappaquidic; hell, a republican never would have recovered from calling Obama 'an articulate black man'; a republican ex-Klansman never would have been appointed head of the Senate appropriation committee and on and on and on.

You have to have some serious partisan blinders to not see the double standard. And that was before Trump came along.

The DNC reminds me of the old fashioned "machine politics" that existed under Mayor Daley (Chicago) and was common before the primaries became the peoples way of nominating.
It's essentially going back to the "smoke filled rooms"

Much of the ideology he has espoused lately is not representative of the liberal party. His current brand is not Democrat.

he's a populist. The trouble is he's also Trump,and refuses to play the electoral game. You can't win the game if you don't play it.
His essential message is the same as sanders when it comes to trade and getting rid of entrenched big donor politics.

But he's Trump and can't keep that message because he steps on it.

A lot of Americans are content with the status quo; ever growing government, debt and free stuff as entitlements.
But there is a significant amount that realize growing government is not growing the GDP or jobs.

If Trump could stay on these, he'd win,or the election would be too close to call. but he's Trump and can't.
