It might also be because they are both very popular programs and they work. Granted Medicare/Medicaid are significant cost problems that are tied into health care reform.

Social Security though is an easy fix given the political will and the American people are not going to do something as incredibly stupid as privatizing it.

Since Obamacare was put in effect the rate of healthcare inflation has diminished greatly helping to solve the Medicare/Medicaid cost problem.

So like some others on here your whole political belief system is based on who is running for President and what they believe. There's a whole political world out there other than the Presidential race even though one who reads this board might not know it.
