Is this too far?

sure. what kina worries me is it's hip to trash US values. I mean if all you can see is racism, you are not seeing the egalitarian nature of our society.

I'm concerned because Americans in general have become blasé; to what the Founders established, and what the Civil war, and various amendments
helped to self correct.
Any racism needs to be called out, but some credit should be given to our modern society.

There are problems to be sure, but there is an inherent American Exceptionalism as well ( not the neocon bastardization).

We are not really striving for excellence -we are more concerned with making sure everybody is included.
It' takes a balance of both to bring out the best in us. ( sorry for the soapbox)
I'm really not sure what country you're talking about?

Striving for excellence? Making sure everyone is included? How many Red states have rulings handed down, or pending litigation re. voter suppression?

We are just now seeing what has been going on for decades. Cops murdering unarmed black people, and covering it up with the blessing of local prosecutors. This is nothing new. It's just being recorded, and shared with the public.

This country isn't even trying to aim for excellence. We grow more divided every year...whether via income inequality, or political divides that are hand crafted by politicians who need us to argue minutia, while they perpetrate their deeds.

Thin ice? These guys are deep diving. Fuck 'em. Boycott them and anything remotely associated with the NFL. Let's see empty stadiums and unsold commercial network time.

I've boycotted professional sports since I was about 15 years old, since I considered most of the performers (and yes I use that word instead of athletes) to be spoiled brats.

And how's that boycott working out for ya?

Shut down any professional sports franchises lately?

and those are the problems. I especially agree with you about divisive politicians. That isn't exclusive to either Dem's or Repub.s

But we still have an enormous amount of new industry. we led the space race and the commercial spinoffs. (etc.)

What really impresses me is for all that forced division from the politicians, Americans are a polyglot that is actually stronger with E Pluribus Unum.
What I was trying to impart was some respect for how we got here, and not just trashing America.
The Bill of Rights
The Civil Rights act
The CivilWar fought to correct slavery ( etc)
A political system that was the envy of the world before we self-polarized
.

Those are huge events that go to our American values. Like Kap is pointing out racism -I think it's equally worthwhile to consider
how women and legal immigrants , blacks - all the prior disadvantaged or worse-now are seamlessly equal power sharing..

I think it's why the nativists/racists are always going to be marginalized - we as American people really have no time for that hate.
We're too busy working on new inventions/techs ( green is a good ex.) and trying to succeed despite the 1%'rs.

IOW's i'm not "blue skying" who we are ,but I think it's more balanced to look back thru our history and see how far we've come
from an all-white landed gentry- to a world power polyglot that defeated fascism, and totalitarianism as well.

I fear the loss of those ideals in the day to day new coverage. I also think we are losing our national identity
because we don't value it. we take it for granted that American institutions are immune from decay.

Getting rid of the national anthem is the end game with you progressives, isn't it.
I think it's little enough to remind us of our national heritage. we'd never play it otherwise, and lord knows anything that conjures up American history is worthwhile.
I stand for it because I do value being an American.

And of course you voiced such comments, when our JPP liberals were chastising him. :dunno:

Is that your lame way of backing out of your original implication that I opposed Tebow expressing himself?

I have always stood up for Tebow. I happen to be a fan of the guy.

Oops. Nice egg on your face there, USF. Imbecile.

You can say you're a Unicorn also; but without supporting proof, it's just you saying it. :D
