"the basket of deplorables"

No, he was talking about those who would vote for Obama, i.e., Democrats.

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it -- that that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... [M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

Where does Hillary say it is her job not to worry about those people. Instead she is clearly trying to appeal to the non bigoted Trump supporters.

So opposition to marriage equality makes one a bigot? You said it, not me.

Those who don't support gay marriage are called homophobes

Hell of an appeal, you're either a basket of deplorable or you're a victim who has been left behind.

She's saying half of Trump voters are deplorables and the other half the economy and gov't have let them down. So there are no well to do economically successful and happy Trump voters? Give me a break Hillary.

Have you looked at the poll numbers. Most of Trump's support comes from uneducated white people. Sure there are a few that have had some success, but obviously she was generalizing to some extent.

Trump and criticism of Obama have created a safe space for the bigots. They have become emboldened to take off their bedsheets and throw away their dog whistles. Hillary is just pointing out what is obviously true.

Why should anyone mince words? If conservatives had any sense they would purge these people, as Buckley did, instead of providing cover for them and pretending they don't exist.

Read 538's site. His supporters aren't mostly uneducated white peoole. A good number no doubt but not most.

It's funny, she'll probably give a talk tomorrow about the great people of 9/11 and how many of them do you think would be in her basket of deplorables?

As Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report has pointed out, Trump is also doing considerably worse than Romney among white voters with a college degree. That makes sense, given Trump’s direct appeals to whites who do not have a high level of education, and his penchant for shunning intellectuals.

Trump May Become The First Republican In 60 Years To Lose White College Graduates

Donald Trump does really well among white voters without a college degree.

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/trump-supporters-appear-to-be-misinformed-not-uninformed/

Donald Trump does really well among white voters without a college degree. Indeed, he is on track to carry that group by a wider margin than Mitt Romney did over President Obama four years ago. But there’s another side to that coin: While Trump is outperforming your run-of-the-mill Republican among whites without a college degree, he’s underperforming among white voters with a college degree. In fact, he is on a track to lose white college graduates.

:palm:

Again, she was obviously generalizing but it is a fairly accurate generalization and is supported by polling.

Why the face palm? Read what she said. Polling shows Trump's voters on average make more money and are better educated than Hillary's voters. So are all the successful Trump voters the bigots and racists then?

IDK, do you have some reason to believe it would be a significant number?

Hillary is beating the snot out Trump in New York. Trump's not even doing very well among New York Republicans.

I understand all that. I am a lifelong republican with a college degree and I will not vote for trump (nor Hillary) so I am in that grouping that trump is losing that republicans usually win. But where does it say they are a majority of his voters?

It will be interesting to see the double standards here, Trumpovitch has said MUCH worse that was simply ignored.

Really? What has he said that's been ignored Jarod?

I appreciate you don't even acknowledge the ill of her comment. Just come out like an attack dog.

The facepalm is because you are misrepresenting what was said. Again, she was obviously generalizing and not saying that there are no non-bigoted successful voters among Trump's supporters. Of course, there are but they are not a very significant share of his support.

You are referencing aggregate numbers from the entire population of Trump supporters. It does not tell you much of anything about the different groups within those numbers.

The single best predictor of Trump support in the GOP primary is the absence of a college degree. In an analysis of Trump's blowout win in New Hampshire, Evan Soltas determined that the factor explaining most of the variance in Trump's support in New Hampshire was education.

“For every 1 percentage point more college graduates over the age of 25, Donald Trump's share of votes falls by 0.65 percentage points,” he said.

Diplomas are what Ron Brownstein calls the “new Republican fault line.” In 2012, Mitt Romney struggled for months to consolidate support because, even as he had clear support among college-educated Republicans, he fared worse among non-college voters.

Further, you are dropping part of the conditions to make your point or just replacing it. I referred specifically to "uneducated whites" not simply the uneducated.

So then your problem is that you don't understand that "mostly" does not necessarily mean a majority but can also mean the "the part of greatest significance?"

Oh, I think she understands the benefits of trade which is more than can be said for Donald "Putin" Trump. But, yeah she will pander to the idiots on the right and left if that's what it takes.
It's not "trade" that is problematic -it's the grotesque structure of the TransPacificPartnership.
It's a corporatists dream that reduces sovereignty to "rubble" -and expands corporate rights
