olin Kaepernick may have received a backlash from opponents of the Black Lives Matter movement, but the result has been an uptick in sales of his jersey.

According to SFGate, Kaepernick’s jersey has gone from 20th to the number one jersey since the player’s act of civil disobedience.

Mercury News reporter Mike Rosenberg was the one to spot the uptick, tweeting a screen capture of the website:

While Kaepernick has skyrocketed in name recognition over the last week, some are buying the jersey in support while others are buying it to burn. However, buying the jersey to burn still means the team is making money from Kaepernick’s name and number.

The jersey was apparently on sale last week but are back up to retail price $99.99.

Try again. That was H.L. Menken who said that. He said that about the marketing of tabloid journalism to the semi-literate (e.g. Fox News) and the actual quote was;

"No one in this world, so far as I know - and I have searched the records for years and employed agents to help me - has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby."

Actually Kap said Hillary should be jail so I understand why Desh says he is racist
Actually Kap has made it clear that his issue is with the government and law enforcement and not with the nation or those who serve to defend our nation in our armed forces and his kneeling is a good way to make his point of civil disobedience without disrespecting those who serve.

Personally I think that it's refreshing to see a professional athlete to take a principled stand for something he believes in other than the almighty dollar and bear the consequences thereby. This is what JFK would have called a profile in courage and though I may not completely agree with Kap on the issue I respect the courage he has shown to take such a public position and his motivation to, by his lights, to try to make this a better nation.

Can't get any more American then that and it shows a greater understanding of American values than mindless nationalism does.

To be fair though Ed Wood did go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public...but I still love his movies. :)
