The problem is, find a method to finance education other than local property taxes that is both equitable and provides the necessary funding. We admitted a long time ago in our State that funding education with property taxes in that it is inherently inequitable. In Ohio in wealthier communities we have some of the best schools in the nation but in our poor rural counties we have some of the worst.Have you looked??
Out in rural areas there is a higher percent in shitty schools but look @ you own city....... Or our state..
Do you agree that poor kids should have to go to poor schools & rich kids should get to go to rich schools??
Do you think those kids forced into poor schools start w/ an advantage? Disadvantage? or same as rich kids??
Yea except you then end up with businessmen running the show who are more concerned about their bottom line than the kids education with the end result that their performance sucks. There's a huge waste in the beaucracy which is why charter schools have such appeal
Oh Jesus God Wacko. How many charter schools have to fail and produce poorer results before you will recognize that they are a drain on public education resources. Freaken like 75% of them have failed in Ohio and Ohio isn't exactly Mississippi when it comes to education.
I'll have to read up on that. Sounds interesting. You do realize that you've lost every right winger on JPP on this topic as they are sure that if the Europeans are doing it, IT'S SOCIALISM!!! LOLI believe that the German model of Gynasium, Realschule and Hauptschule has much merit to it. We are planning to bring back Grammars schools in England and Wales, which are selection only.

I noticed Zake Flaked in response to my question.
bullshit......you would have dismissed him as quickly as you did Trump.......
It could very well be that liberals don't want the poor educated; because then they might just realize how things actually work and switch to the right.
compared with 100% of public schools.......a sure sign of progress in education.....

We have recognized that our current system has created this problem but have yet to find a fair and equitable solution that works...AND NO WACKO we tried Charter schools and they have been an abysmal failure.

No solution will come easy, but apparently anything giving schools equal funding is off the table...
Maybe, but Trump makes it so much easier with his moonbat statements
It's sad when teachers in such a rich and powerful nation have to buy their own supplies and can't earn a living remotely comparable to their market value. Teachers care and we don't have to pay them top dollar. But they shouldn't have to live and work like they are in the Peace Corps either

I see your point......that's what makes you so easy to dismiss.......
given that we already pay more per student than almost everywhere, and the highest per student cities in the US are also the one with the worst school systems (for example Detroit, Buffalo and Washington DC, the problem isn't that a rich and powerful nation makes its teachers buy their own supplies.....the problem is that corrupt Democrat leadership wastes so much money that they can't afford to buy pencils.......
odd.....we have equal funding in Michigan, brought to us by a Republican governor (Engler) decades ago.......in fact MORE is spent per student in the Detroit schools than anywhere else in the state........the only problem they have left is being run by Democrats.......
LOL, not many find me easy to dismiss
