20 years after welfare reform

I as I've said want to help the poor get out of poverty. Why would I like a Democrat who steals the money intended to help do that?

Would you like a conservative who steals from the military?

I wouldn't like anyone who steals from anyone.....that's why I left the Democrat party in the first place.....

To a degree. Federal standards are not a bad idea. Otherwise you have places where your taught in science class that life began 5,000 years ago by an invisible guy n the sky who can't manage money or educational resources are spent where they are truly important...on basketball or football or enough is invested to make sure they will be good little worker bees for McDonalds and Wallmart.

Federal standards are needed but even with Federal Standards our educational system is still largely controlled locally.
Maybe we should go full Asian and have an educational system like Japan and Korea.

How do you propose fixing this without making all educational powers federal?

What about poor towns, should they also get more tax dollars from other towns so they can be equal?

Absolutely, the Federal government needs to make sure that all Americans are getting access to a quality education. We have such a have and have not school funding situation now.

And before you say it, no, it's not working now. At least Democrats want to try, Republicans are just the party of no. I don't see what conservative value is achieved by keeping poor kids in poor schools.

I do agree with Republicans on vouchers. I do not understand the Democrat party opposition to them. There are good ideas in both parties, we need to start working together and stop having it just be another area of knee jerk partisan based positions. Again, I don't see how the ideology of both parties is not advanced by helping all Americans have the opportunity to advance themselves through a better education.

I want to win my objectives. Republicans losing doesn't help me

hurling insults like monkeys throwing poo at a zoo is a grand JPP tradition. You'll soon find out who honestly wants to debate.

I don't believe I have made your aquantence. I am Mott "THE" Hoople. Though just a lowly Masters of science I am widely regarded on JPP as a pseudo-intellectual horses ass or a garden variety asshole, depending on who you ask. Glad to meet you and welcome to our little disfunctionsl family on the interwebs.

we are the monkeys, Mott is THE poo....

There are many vested interests in the world of education fighting to keep the status quo. It's more than just republicans and democrats. A major impediment to change is the teachers unions. Why do they fight so hard against reform? (Rhetorical question)

& there you have the essence that is him.... He is probably capable of much more but just trolls other ppl's posts, a lot easier than doing something yourself.. Just goes to show not all conservatives are hard working etc... Some are just what they seem, lazy ass trolls..:)

if you guys want me to work hard you're going to have to come up with better material.....

I'm actually not opposed to a federal education system. We are getting our asses handed to is by countries that have a unified educational system.

How would that work here?

~the poor are disproportionately minorities....

it has already been pointed out to you that the majority of the poor are white......and its been pointed out that liberals go to great lengths to make sure we understand that fact........why ignore it now?......is it because its inconvenient for your argument?........by the way, I'm sorry if that isn't substantive enough for you liberals, but hey, is anything more complicated really needed to show the failure of your argument?.......

& how does that work??
I spent some time in Korea and the kids do, to American standards, an insane amount of schooling.

Regular school in the morning and afternoon, then private schooling till 9pm. And by private, 90% of the kids are enrolled in so called after school programs. Basically they are educated or indoctrinated 10 hours a day.

China and Japan might be more.

sure....the party of no schools of choice, the party of no charter schools.....given that school funding has grown more than any other area of government over the last twenty years, can you identify what it is the Republicans have said "no" to.......if you could do that it would help give your claim some substance.......

In Japan I know they do lots of schooling & from very early on.. My grandson is 3 1/2 & has been in Japanese school for 6 months..

How does the funding & allocation work??

I think I have a pretty thick skin. What I object to more than insults is hypocrisy. I do point it out.

PostModernProphet for example seems to have a thing about not providing any content or argument at all to non-Republican posts, he just provides snarky insults as if we're all just supposed to know that Republicans are right on everything
He's also the King of circular arguments. Some peoples whole contribution is "leftist/rightist is stupid".

Seems you should know more than me.
