Khan works for law firm that scores big money in selling EB-2 and EB-5 visas. For $500K you can buy a visa and a set of green cards for the wife [wives lol?] and kids.
In other words, Khan isn't your garden variety Muslim immigrant that runs the corner bagel shop.
And why is this not the least bit suprising?
