Are Cons Coming to Terms With Racism in American Policing?

Really? What's BLM saying?

They're saying that black lives matter. They're not saying that whites & cops are ALWAYS the problem.

You really need to open up your ears. It's embarrassing hearing you talk on this subject - like how you didn't know there was a coalition for Libya, but felt comfortable talking about Libya.

Here, lapdoggy. Arf!

In the last few days, this country witnessed the recorded murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of police, the latest victims in this country’s failed policing system. As we have done for decades, we marched and protested to highlight the urgent need to transform policing in America, to call for justice, transparency and accountability, and to demand that Black Lives Matter.

In Dallas, many gathered to do the same, joining in a day of action with friends, family, and co-workers. Their efforts were cut short when a lone gunman targeted and attacked 11 police officers, killing five. This is a tragedy—both for those who have been impacted by yesterday’s attack and for our democracy. There are some who would use these events to stifle a movement for change and quicken the demise of a vibrant discourse on the human rights of Black Americans. We should reject all of this.

Black activists have raised the call for an end to violence, not an escalation of it. Yesterday’s attack was the result of the actions of a lone gunman. To assign the actions of one person to an entire movement is dangerous and irresponsible. We continue our efforts to bring about a better world for all of us.

I just wonder how dumb you are.... If a man in uniform is shouting at you not to move and pointing a gun at you, would you reach for your wallet?

I'll ask again if you have any evidence to prove that is what happened, Officer.

Please, post it. Thanks!

Serious question: how does one go about 'understanding the black experience'?
Try living in a black community and associating with your neighbors and integrating into that community?

I did my undergrad at Wright State in Dayton. I spent my first two years at the Lake Campus and the last two years in Dayton. I first moved into small apartment with a friend on the east side in the urban hillbilly part of town cause it was closer to school. We bailed after three months. He moved to Fairborn (he had more money) and I moved into a nice boarding room on the west side of town that was about 75% black. Never had a problem there. About a year later I started working at a blood plasma center. Most of my coworkers were black. Dated about as many black girls as white. I learned a lot.

I think what I learned the most is that you can enjoy and appreciate and participate in another culture without it threatening your identity. Most people like it when you show them you are interested in them. I also learned that I could love a woman of a different race. Trust me, that didn't suck!! :)

This is random but a few weeks back several Oakland police officers got busted for sending racist texts. They didn't say the officers race at first but I think most probably thought like I did that it was white officers. Turned out in this case the officers who sent the racist texts were black.

They haven't said what was stated in the texts but the event itself turned out different than expected.

The National dialog says something else happened with no proof. So that needs to be proven first. The defense counters the prosecution, not vice versa. Are you posting from Bulgaria or something?

So you have no proof to back your claim that the deceased was to blame for his own death?

Thank you, Officer.

I know several cops, I was talking to three (one retired) this AM...

IMHO if an officer is so dumb as to engage in that, he likely lacks the mental capacity for the job, not to mention to moral/ethical character to be in charge of protecting the public/citizens of his/her city/county/state...

We had a big controversy here in SF a month or so prior to this where six mostly white officers were busted for sending racist texts. Not sure what's in our water here in the Bay but we aren't on a good run...

Yes, I recall hearing about it also...

Didn't they get the boot?
