1. Define modest. Nothing but opinion. The truth is that any one facet may be modest but as old programs dont go away and new ones are added and the net is far from modest, it was shown to exceed the average salary of a family of four.
2. No recipients of food stamps are children, that would be the mother. Of course food stamp users are women with children as they opted to have children out of wedlock and that never ends well. None of this addresses lazy, swing and a miss, mentioning children is not proof of anything.
3. These illegal aliens are documented with fake documents. Stop screwing with terms to avoid the truth.
4. Some junkies do sell their food stamps. How many ? who knows but its not zero.
5. See video above. And not all are black.
6. If they were effective why is poverty increasingly worse ? Welfare more costly ? Does it work at times ? Undoubtedly but in the whole its only made things worse.
7. We all hope that no one will ever need it and its true that there are many who end up using it. But what percentage do ? Without that number, its just theory.

Get better stuff to post. This is too easy.

If you think everyone who ever needed assistance because of poverty never bounced back, please cite a statistic to back this up. Because legitimate statistics don't show this.

Not sure if you are a rap fan or not. In 1992 I believe it was 2Pac wrote a song called Brenda's Got A Baby and it was about a teenager getting pregnant. Deep song actually but one of his lyrics was "Brenda's family didn't care if she had a church of kids, as long as when the check came they got first dibs."

He was talking about a teenage girl growing up in the ghetto and speaking about incentives in the welfare system. The '96 plan was about changing that.

I read the article and I know the writer is black. But he hasn't touched on personal responsibility. Basically he's saying black women can be bought and black men are too weak to do anything about it.

Maybe Nick Chiles is looking for a scapegoat.

No, the gov't programs are not extremely effective at keeping people out of poverty. There have been multiple studies done on poverty in America over the past 50 years but the programs being extremely effective has not been one of the findings.

So it's interesting this writer decides to call people angry, claim they are lying and incorrect and then proceed to lie herself.

People respond to incentives. Look at the rate of black families prior to the great society and where we are today. President Obama talks about what is was like growing up without a father and what it did to him and how he said he would always be there for his children.

I'm a lucky white guy but growing up in Oakland around lots of black folks I saw the affects. So I speak from life experiences. Black folk aren't weak but the system fvcked them. Well meaning white people doing damage

If it was about responding to incentives then there should be comparable numbers for whites in his points. There's more going on here than incentives, maybe cultural or societal.
