James Dobson - ANOTHER Phony Christian

I don't believe church-going and openly thanking God make a person a good Christian either. I do believe that hating people because of their race, religion, sexual orientation or ethnicity is un-Christian. And I don't see much tolerance coming from Dobson. I think it takes a lot of hubris to hold up oneself as a Christian while acting in a way Christ never acted. No believer knows the mind of God and I also believe there's a line one can't cross when it comes to speaking for God.

This is not Christian.

Dobson contended that "tolerance" and "diversity" are "buzzwords" that the We Are Family Foundation misused as part of a "hidden agenda" to promote homosexuality.[SUP][53][/SUP] Kate Zernik noted Dobson asserting: "tolerance and its first cousin, diversity, 'are almost always buzzwords for homosexual advocacy.'

Dobson believes that any sexual activity outside of such a union — including homosexuality — cannot be approved by God.

Sociologist Judith Stacey criticized Dobson for claiming that sociological studies show that gay couples do not make good parents

Dobson stated that Obama was "distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own world view."[SUP][76][/SUP]

I said nothing about a good Christian, I was speaking about a Christian period.

Even if I don't agree with Dobson's political positions what you have posted doesn't make him not a Christian.

While I do believe that people are biologically either a male or a female and that identifying as something that you biologically are not doesn't make your identity real or truth, I don't believe though that shooting or physically harming a transgendered person that comes into your bathroom is moral or justifiable and shouldnt be something a church leader should be saying or hinting at.

norah, nobody suggested anyone shoot a transgendered person.......

I'm sorry Chrispy.....I was just making the point that your comment was really, really stupid.......since we all know nobody on this board ever complained about Muslims hitting women with twigs, why exactly did you bother to make such a pointless post?..

There have been threads on this forum about Muslims beating their wives and the ignorant here, like you, never researched it in depth.

Just like any religion (or just about any religion), lots of folks w/ other agendas co-opt it for their own use. It's actually kind of amazing how much Christianity is used to justify an agenda that's either based on hate, or involves hate to a degree.

I've always said it, but to listen to some of these guys, I'd expect to open the Bible & see Christ railing against homosexuals w/ every other sentence, and describing them as the biggest threat to humanity. I don't really know what a "true" Christian is as opposed to someone who is not, but I kind of know the latter when I see it.

I guess that was a pretty broad statement, let me narrow it down to I don't believe good Christians should discriminate or worse against those they hate.

Please keep in mind that disagreeing with a belief that another person wants you to believe is not always an example of discrimination. I don't have to submit to others or agree with others over something that I believe is wrong in order to be meet someone else's standard of a "good Christian". I don't mean that in a disrespectful way towards you, but in my opinion there is a false belief out there right now that if you don't agree with everything regarding equality in today's world then you are discriminating or a bigot or hateful, and I just don't think that's true.

No insult taken.

It bothers me, for example, that people automatically equate transgenders with pedophiles lying in wait for unsuspecting little kids in the rest room. I think someone can disagree with the concept of a transgender without preaching to the world that they are all sexual criminals.

Maybe he's spanking himself. :D

If only...
