Ray Lewis loud and wrong on Black Lives Matter, crime

People always say the bolded, but it's a BS argument.

Poverty in the black community is ultimately founded in discrimination that simply refuses to go away. If you can give me a Dem policy that has actual causality toward the stats we see, you might have some kind of point.

It's more of a fact than an argument. What you choose to deduce from the fact is another matter.

Take Baltimore for example: what ever the factors that contribute to Baltimore becoming Fallujah west, it's difficult to argue it has anything to do with white privilege or the other racialist bromides, because Baltimore is controlled by democrats---largely black democrats.

The BS argument is that poverty is ultimately founded in discrimination.

There are plenty of poor white people in this country that would take exception to that proposition.

That doesn't mean white people can't be discriminated against also.

You seem determined to make discrimination the cause of everything lol.

Most of the poor whites I know [they're plentiful in WV] are poor either because of their own bad choices and/or the bad choices of their parents. Some people just don't choose wisely.

Its compounded by the fact that poverty becomes something children need to rise out of---most of them don't; their parents most often aren't good role models; their conditioned to living off subsidies and think it's 'normal' to live on foodstamps and etc.

Personally, I think white liberals and BLM do a disservice to young blacks by instilling the notion in their minds they are victims of white privilege or they are poor because of white discrimination.

Small wonder they are quick to take to the streets and engage in riots. Anger will do that. And now we have a generation of them coming up through an education system that trades in that idea.

It's a recipe for trouble.

I'm only determined not to let people get away with saying that only blacks holler about discrimination.

You need an example, watch Making a Murderer on Netflix and see how this white family was treated.

And you're never going to change that. People who are poor aren't going to get anywhere waiting on other people to change or get out of their way. I doubt there's a single individual in this country that can't get themselves out of poverty---so long as they are determined to do it.

Tell it to the miners, lol.

That seems simplistic to me. There are so many factors linked to poverty that it's not just about pulling yourself up by the bootstraps.

Do you really think that people, liberals, really instill the notion in young blacks that they are discriminated against? That is just one the most stupid statement made on these forums. Seriously

it's possible, but crushing poverty is just that. everything you do is tougher because of lack of money.
Like not having a car to go to school to better yourself, or living in shitty conditions .

Or having to work 2 jobs to survive, and somehow fit night school in.
It's an enormous burden to advancement, and is why poverty can be cyclic

I said poverty in the black community specifically. Obviously, it's not the root of all poverty.

It's just a real disconnect to not recognize the lack of opportunities that young black men & women in the inner cities have in terms of education and jobs.

Actually not stupid at all. Look at the response from the black elite to Bill Cosby's comments for example. Google America is a racist country. Yeah it gets preached and there is some truth to it.

Cawacko, all the blacks I know have suffered some form of discrimination, I am sure they don't need to have it instilled in them by anyone, they have experienced it.

What does education and job opportunities have to do with discrimination? Job opportunities suck in lots of places and it has nothing to do with discrimination. Education in inner cities sucks, but it's largely because most good teachers don't want to teach there and it's hard to blame them. But again, what does that have to do with discrimination?

Cosby preached tough love to blacks, before he went over to the dark side lol, which was kind of unfortunate because people were listening to him.

Black victimhood is preached and there's some truth in it. Hardly mutually exclusive concepts lol. The question is how much truth is in it. Since discrimination is hard, if not impossible to quantify, you can't approach it scientifically. So a group like BLM goes about it armed only with their pet suppositions about racism amongst whites.

An objective observer sees a problem with this right off the bat: you can't really know what's in other people's heads when it comes to attitudes about race; and you can't make generalizations about another race without indulging in the very thing you're trying to solve---which is racism.

Whatever the answer for racism is, what it most certainly isn't is more racism.
