It's a sign of the mental illness permeating the leftist mind; they pick and choose whose claims of sovereignty are legitimate based upon their litmus test of whether the oppressing power is pro- or anti-Western/anti-American/anti-Israel. If that power is pro-West, than the minority group is totally legitimized; if the power is anti-West (like China), then the minority group does not have a legitimate claim.
