I remember the criticisms of Starr......pretty funny.....I wonder what those people expected to find the report when the investigation was about sexual harassment, and betting blow jobs in the oval office then lying about those things under oath....what else could the Starr be about but the subject....
It was supposed to be the Whitewater investigation, not the Clinton sex investigation. Starr is the one who broadened it to include Travelgate, Filegate and whatever other gate they could dream up.
Lying under oath and obstruction isn't impeachable ?
Is it? Apparently the lawyers didn't think so, citing that his lie didn't threaten national interests even though it was reprehensible.
Those aren't crimes ? “high crimes and misdemeanors” is a fairly broad phrase.....
Exactly. His perjury was a crime but not on a par with treason, for example.
Scooter Libby was sent to prison for lying to the FBI and obstruction.....
Libby's crime was leaking classified info, not having an extramarital affair.
Sen. Sampson of NY was convicted of obstruction ....the obstruction was concealing his conduct from the FBI.....
Don't forget embezzlement, filing false disclosure forms, funneling money into his campaign.
Do you think the Clintons see themselves as above the laws that others go to prison for.....
I don't know what they think, and neither do you or anyone else. Bill Clinton's already been punished for what he did so obviously he wasn't above the law. And if Hillary committed any crimes, she should be punished like any other schmo. Punished for real crimes though, not something righties dreamed up or something others did but weren't punished for.
Starr was criticized by Democrats for spending $70 million on an investigation that substantiated only perjury and obstruction of justice.
He was criticized for wasting taxpayer money on issues that were out of the scope of the investigation, such as the conspiracy theory that Clinton had Vince Foster killed.
Bill Clinton, was impeached by the House of Representatives on two charges, one of perjury and one of obstruction of justice. Fifty senators voted to remove Clinton on the obstruction of justice charge and 45 voted to remove him on the perjury charge; no Democrat voted guilty on either charge. Odd to say the least.
Not odd. It was a partisan witch hunt.
Months later, Clinton admitted he had a relationship with Lewinsky. Never forget the "depends on what the meaning of is is.....funny if it wasn't so sad.
What's really sad is how many of Clinton's accusers were wagging their fingers at him while doing the same thing. Henry Hyde, Newt Gingrich, Bob Livingston, Dan Burton, Helen Chenoweth... hypocrites, each and every one of them.
