An evangelical gives his thoughts on Bernie Sanders

why do churches help people ?

why do governments help people?

Kindness, but when churches give help many of the times there is also a message of hope attached to it and teaching them Christ's message in hopes that they will help others too. You can't help others if you yourself is dependent on help. The best and most credible people like that are the ones that struggled but had to drive to make their lives better and now give back to those in need like they were.

so religions are good but government is bad?

or JUST your religion is good?

I said they can become dependent, not will. I don't think it's a good thing to become dependent.

and you have YET to give any proof of his theory of dependence

you are using a right wing meme with no facts to back it

there is no proof in reality of what you claim.

Itt is a made up line by the right to keep the government from being able to help people

because they spread YOUR beliefs

you want people to be recruited to your church

Not everyone is a Christian or want to be one

the government doesnt require you believe in a religion to get help

Can you in all sincerity say that if the government or organization gave a $100 a week without expecting anything from that person in return that over time that person wouldn't become dependent on that $100? That if you stopped giving them they money that it wouldn't have an effect on them if they weren't actively trying to earn that $100 in addition?

If you receive financial help or food or shelter from a church then you shouldn't be surprised if there is an uplifting and faith based message attached. You should also be respectful of that message considering the help you are getting

which is why it should be done in a non religious way

no one should be forced to grovel to someone elses belief just to eat and stay warm

Dependence on government often comes with no obligation to better yourself. While that's great for the people that need help it also doesn't do anything to help them break dependence or improve their standard of living without the help. Imagine if in order to receive financial help you had to work in some way. It would give that person possible new skills that could go towards getting a better paying job. Imagine if in order to get food you also had to serve food to other people in need. It would not only give appreciation it would also be an example of people helping people.

prove these assumptions of yours with some citation of FACTS.

It is a right wing meme not based on ANY facts designed to give the republican party an excuse for not helping others through government

Helping the poor does not make them evil

that is what your stance is claiming

don help them because they wont appreiciate it and will just try to get more help while doing NOTHING

Why do you feel compelled to forcibly take from others to further your compassion?

Whether you think people SHOULD help the less fortunate isn't the point. Shouldn't they be free not to if they choose so?

Or are you of the mindset that people should be forced against their will to expend their labor for others.

If I break into your house, steal your belongings, sell them and give all the proceeds to the poor am I compassionate?
