Black judge gives white man 60 days for using n-word

It's on all the time here in the States.

Just watched it the other day myself.

I loved Nightlinger's little prayer before the cattle thieves hung him:

"I regret trifling with married women. I'm thoroughly ashamed at cheating at cards. I deplore my occasional departures from the truth. Forgive me for taking your name in vain, my Saturday drunkenness, my Sunday sloth. Above all, forgive me for the men I've killed in anger ... and those I am about to."

Yes but was it on a terrestrial channel and was the word nigger bleeped out?

I am going back to Saigon next month with my daughter-in-law and son, believe you me the Americans weren't the only liars in that war. But yes the Green Beret was pretty bad, however balance that against wonderful films like the Searchers, the Shootist, Who Shot Liberty Vallance, True Grit and the Cowboys.

And don't forget:

Rooster Cogburn, The Sons of Katie Elder, El Dorado, Rio Bravo and Big Jake!

The title should read: Stupid European-American Unable to Understand a Simple Lesson of Time and Place that Most Kindergartners understand

Truly a stupid man. Felony stupid.

And you think that's right?

I think that most kindergartners understand the easy lesson of time and place. Outside in the street when it isn't the court he could say it all he wanted without any time spent anywhere, but showing contempt for the courts and the officers of the court is something that can get you jail time (Contempt of Congress too)...

It is what puts the few brave journalists into jail. They don't even have to insult the judge personally for it.

Not always a good idea. In the Searchers he wanted to kill Natalie Wood because she had been defiled by Indians and in Red River he wanted to kill Montgomery Clift for stopping him lynching one of the cowhands.

Key words there, was "wanted to"; but his desire was changed.

Shouting "punk ass ni**er" at the Judge as he leaves the courtroom can hardly be considered "criticism"...but nice try.

Not "trying" anything. The problem with posters like you is that it's always a "gotcha" moment, instead of a thoughtful moment.

The guys behavior is clearly vulgar and stupid- but not clear its punishable.

Wow, seriously? You don't? You think you can say anything you want in court? Why don't you try that theory yourself?

No, I don't think you are free to say whatever you want while before a judge, or even as a spectator while court is in session. But if I read the article correctly that wasn't the case?

He yelled it at the judge from the hallway. The judge's punishment was just. You can't do that nor can you yell a slur at a judge like that. There's nothing to defend here.

You don't even understand the issue. The issue is did he deserve 60 days in jail.? I'd say $100 fine would be about right. THINK

Not trying to defend his behavior. I hope that's clear.

The reason for posting the article I did regarding speech on clothing, is because as disgusting as his epithet was, I'm not sure it was in the judges pervue to punish him. Its a legal question. Using vulgarity at a judge who isn't seated at the bench may be disrespectful, but not convinced it was illegal.
