Militia takes over federal building in Oregon

I also agree there is a line. But I am not seeing the government tyranny here. Can you explain it from your viewpoint?

there was an agreement on the table over the convictions, but the government didn't care for the judges sentencing, so they reneged on their portion of the agreement to find a more amenable court. that is tyranny.

so the founders were terrorists for the shot heard round the world, the boston tea party, and the revolutionary war?

in the eyes of the British... yes.

but the founders were upset with the oppressive nature of the King, taxation without representation etc... what is the oppression these militia members faced?

the government (including the courts) are using their power of the law to not only harass and oppress citizens, but imprisoning those who don't go along with their relocation plan. they are sanctioning and excusing the murder of unarmed citizens through judicially carved out exceptions to 'law', and THAT is certainly something the founders would not agree with.

face it, you are just plain wrong.

Again... what cases are you referring to? I am not wrong in this case. These members are pissed about two individuals jailed because the fires they set weren't properly contained. At least that is the initial report.

if you wish to use the FBIs definition of terrorism, you must then also concede that the US government, and all of it's subordinate entities, are terrorist organizations.

I think the government most certainly can be seen in that light. But like this group, it is the actions and events leading up to the current situation that matter. As noted, the founders could have been seen as terrorists, freedom fighters, insurgents, patriots... it is (1) a matter of perspective but more importantly it is (2) the events that led to the actions taken

What wrongs?

Double Jeopardy, the arson in question was a back-burn to protect their property, and cattle, they had already been charged and served their sentence, now the feds want to add five years when the other judge said 5 years was ridiculous and sentenced them to 1 yr and 6 months. Are you saying they should serve a second sentence.

Courts often reverse sentencing of defendents, they have in many cases lowered the sentences, but in this case they increased it. These ranchers haven't been treated any different than other criminals where the State or defendant can appeal the sentencing.

Gawd damn!, you are dumb as shit!

Except it wasn't up to the original judge to determine whether the sentence of 5 years was too harsh a sentence.

The law the arsonists broke called for a MANDATORY MINIMUM of 5 years.

Do you understand what "mandatory" and "minimum" mean?

Back to the OP...

When a group of armed blacks gather it's a gang of thugs...

When a group of armed Muslims gather it's a cabal of terrorists...

When a group of armed white guys gather it's a patriotic militia...

Americans are stupid.

That's the problem with labeling people as terrorist. One persons terrorist is another's freedom fighter.

I agree.
My knee jerk reaction to Bundy's thugs was that they are terrorists. The taking over of a federal building and threatening a fire fight if any attempt is made to remove them seems, on it's face to be a terrorist tactic.
But what they really are is far less threatening than terrorism. These assholes are nothing more than greedy businessmen who want to graze their cattle for free on government land . That is really all they want ...period...
They appeal to the passions of anti government militia conspiracy nuts to support their cause...Unfortunately there is no shortage of this kind of nut case and they are anxious to show off their expensive guns in any kind of show of force.
Their cause is greed ...not patriotism...
Their tactic is thuggery ...not peaceful demonstration...
They look for a confrontation not resolution...

This time they are fooling very, very few.
