Uncle Sugar

I wonder how women will feel about Mr. Huckabee's thoughts on Democrats and how they feel women need Uncle Sugar to buy their birth control because they can't control their libido.

I know there are posters who think the word projection is overused, but I think Huckabee has projected his feelings of this subject matter onto the Democrats.

I can't wait to see where this goes! Lol

Huckabee was somewhat out of line in his choice of words.....(seems to be problem with many conservative politicians)
he should have stressed the difference between 'contraception' and 'birth control medication'....
the difference is huge and meaningful....

Providing tax payer funded contraception is totally different that providing needed medication, medication that should be covered by health insurance and
prescribed by a qualified doctor's diagnosis of a medical problem.....

So the government is providing women with free monthly birth control as part of the AHA? LOL This is what some call the zombie lie. No matter how many times you kill it, it keeps coming back. But it's still a lie.

With the exception of churches and houses of worship, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandates contraceptive coverage for all employers and educational institutions, even though the mandate itself is not included in the wording of the law(s) passed by Congress. The mandate applies to all new health insurance plans effective August 2012. It controversially includes Christian hospitals, Christian charities, Catholic universities, and other enterprises owned or controlled by religious organizations that oppose contraception on doctrinal grounds. Regulations made under the act rely on the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine, which concluded that birth control is medically necessary "to ensure women's health and well-being."

Are you claiming the above statement is false or incomplete ?

Can't you READ ?

Don't they pay for the insurance?

Or isn't the insurance supplied by employers part of the benefits they earn?

I imagine there is still a copay as there is with all prescription drugs.

The ACA just stipulates that birth control needs to be covered by insurance.

I guess you poor independent women just can't afford the $9/month for your "reproductive choices". Oh well.

There is no co-pay for birth control, but, yes, there are still premium payments that insureds must pay. So, no, it ain't free.

Also, too, I hope Huckabee runs for the Republican nomination again. He's like a turd that won't flush.

Under the health law, insured women will qualify for contraceptives without a copayment as part of a range of preventive medical services.

Contraceptives are part of a package of women’s preventive health care services under the Affordable Care Act -- including screening for diabetes, counseling about sexually transmitted diseases and breast feeding support -- that must be provided without deductibles or co-pays in all new policies beginning Aug. 1.

Products that must be covered without cost-sharing include over-the- counter contraceptives when they are prescribed by doctors, the HHS official said Friday.

The package of women’s preventive care benefits must be offered in all new insurance policies sold to individuals and employers starting Aug. 1, as well as in most policies that renew afterwards on the date that they renew. There is an exception for insurance provided by certain nonprofit religious employers who object to birth control.

Twenty-eight states already require insurers to cover contraceptives, although large, self-insured employers are generally exempted from state rules. But a 2010 Kaiser Family Foundation/HRET survey of employers found that 85 percent of large firms offered prescription contraceptives in their plans, although they often required a patient co-pay or deductible. (KHN is a program of the foundation)

I guess pregnancy is now the new 'preventable disease'...

It seems to me what Huckabee is saying is that Republican women are better because they can keep there legs closed? Or that under a Republican health care plan, poor women will be required to refrain from being sluts?

Huckabee:

Republicans respect women more, we expect them to pay for their own birth control, or not be sluts.

Thanks for the correction the co-pay.

The best part about this story is that Huckabee signed a bill as Governor of Arkansas in 2005 that mandated contraceptive coverage and provided a very, very narrow carve out for religious organizations.

I know some people refuse to believe it, but pregnancy isn't a cake walk, and although not a disease, a woman does have a right to decide if she wishes to have a child or choices not to conceive.

I just read about this. Political amnesia always makes me laugh.

It's not amnesia. It's a reflection of how whacked out the Republican Party has become in the age of Obama. This was a non-controversial idea that lots and lots and lots of Republicans supported. Then Obama did it.
