A very sad day indeed. However, he is mistaking correlation for causation, a classic simple intellectual error. But yes, he is making the attempt.
I give him credit for that, but its a very weak attempt. The intelligent Conservatives stay away or if they post, ignore our points. The idiots will post, but cant make a coherent argument.

Exactly. I came here because one of the other places I post is dominated by liberals. I wanted conservatives that made me think. I am not finding that here, other than Damo. and Taft 2016 and a few others.
What's the other place, there are too few liberals here.

While the left ignores the President saying he's not going to wait for Congress to pass laws so he's basically assuming dictatorial powers...
.... but forget that. The governor of New Jersey may have closed down a lane of traffic. THAT's what the country should get animated about!

The President is not assuming any dictatorial powers, he has certain powers by virtue of being president that he said he is going to use.

....and in this you would be correct. There are some "conservative" views that I hold....I like the idea of going back to the gold standard at some point, I like some of the Tea party leaderships idea's about beoming less involved in the whole issue of nation building and becoming more (but not completely) isolationist, about reducing deficits and running a more balanced budget, et al. But those ideas run counter to current Republican thinking. I am strongly in favor of ending most forms of corporate welfare, and of simplifying the tax code greatly.

We have had this issue in our country for a long time. Ever hear of a book called the Imperial Presidency? At some point we need to take a serious look at why things are so badly broken in our country. I will very much agree that there are times that Obama has overstepped his bounds.

...because we live from one manufactured crisis to another in this country, because that's what sells newspapers and makes people tune into FOX and MSNBC. It also diverts us from solvable issues. Doesn't matter if you believe in global warming or not....California has a huge water crises, as does Atlanta. Half our nations produce IIRC comes from California. The lack of water for huge metro areas like LA and lack of water for ranchers and farmers needs dealt with. No one is talking about this much.
Our energy grid is vulnerable to an electromagnetic pulse, possibly produced by a rouge nation such as Pakistan or North Korea. No one wants to talk about doing common sense upgrades to our power grid to protect it.
Our tax code is horribly muddled, and the IRS is out of control. We are spying on our own citizens, and we are trampling our constitutional rights to privacy. Both parties are doing it. People should be livid about the NSA. I am. But the reaction of most people is...Oh well.
Bridge gate is essentially another manufactured crises so we don't have to think about anything that will make us have to spend actual resources or make tough unpleasant choices in this country, IMHO. In the end, nothing will probably stick to Christie.

Part of the problem is that every time there is a conservative push in this country, it is taken over by neoconservatives and we end up using the state to subsidize the military industrial complex in ways that are not healthy for us as nation,.
