A&E suspended Phil Robertson

There are two very interesting things coming out of all this:
1. I wasn't aware that anyone was being forced to watch DD.
and
2. Now the people who say they didn't watch it, aren't going to watch it. :dunno:

Ugh this accusation of lying is tiresome. I never made a statement of FACT. I made an anecdotal reference to what I think what closet bigots do. I never said Phil does this I said knowing conservative bigots (which is opinion reflects that) HE PROBABLY...Now try to prove the word probably implies a statement of FACT

So saying that you're probably an idiot, isn't insulting; because there's no proof it's a fact?

The BIO bone head. Did you actually read the interview...........( I'll shut up)

Show me where he included the word "slave or slaves"

"Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers," he explained. "I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field … They're singing and happy."

In his recollection, the racism that reportedly occurred between the end of slavery in 1865 and the start of the Civil Rights Movement in the late 1940s just didn't appear to be in existence in the area where he grew up.

"I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people' -- not a word!" he said. "Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."

This isn't a free speech issue. It's a private entity deciding it doesn't like what another private entity says and therefore is terminating their business arrangements. That's freedom of association.

I agree, but if it were the other way around you know it would be different. The hypocrisy is astounding on the left

He is ostensibly being fired for his Christian beliefs. But a business can't fire a queer for being queer. That is still freedom of association. It should cut both ways

I hope every asshole at GLAD contracts drug resistant HIV

Phil is a fake redneck
He graduated college
He was the starting QB ahead of Bradshaw
Rednecks barely get out of high school much less college.

I think A&E is making a mistake. What's better than a show that showcases white Christian bigotry? Bring back the bigot!!!

The fact that you call it hateful, uneducated extremism shows you did not read what he stated. You are the hateful piece of shit, not him.
Unlike you, I DO know how to read. His delusional beliefs re. civil rights in this country are just that....delusions.

Now why don't you read what he said, and get back to us?

Just imagine if a Muslim had been asked his views on homosexuality. The answer may have been very similar, but would the left in this country have had the hissy fit they are throwing for Robertson?

I don't agree with Phil's opinion, but he has the right to state his religious beliefs.
Get back to us when a Muslim has a reality show, and does an interview with GQ.

I'm sure the duck fuckers have a morality clause in their contract.

http://www.thewrap.com/phil-robertson-duck-dynasty-free-speech-religious-discrimiination

Yep, this is it in a nut shell. If the language is in the contract he signed, then he breached. The main issue isn't his religious beliefs; the show knew he was a conservative Christian when they signed him. Duck guy was happy to make millions from this show so I have no sympathy for him whatsoever. He shouldn't have spoken out publicly on his beliefs, and I find it hard to accept that he didn't know there could be a controversy over his remarks.

"While the specifics of Robertson’s agreement with A&E aren’t known, entertainment-industry protocol suggests that he would likely have have an uphill battle.

The Wrap spoke to multiple legal experts who said that, if Robertson’s contract contained a morals clause — as if often the case with on-air talent — than the reality TV star has little in the way of legal recourse.

Often, such morals clauses note that, if talents speaks or acts in a way that insults or denigrates people, the producer reserves the right to suspend or terminate that talent.

And typically, defining such language or actions is left to the discretion of the studio — basically, “if we say it is so, it is.” Tough to mount a legal argument against that."

hes showed he is a fact adverse racist idiot.

The guy actually said black people were Happier in the Jim Crow south folks.

hes a fucking racist asshole

I base my belief that homosexuality is sin on nothing from the Old Testament. The Old Testament was made null and void when Christ died on the cross.

It could be OT, NT or the Bible but I went with OT because of an argument I had a few weeks ago with another poster.

Jesus didn't address homosexuality in the NT. I'm not saying he supported it, or that he didn't abide by Jewish teachings on the matter. But I don't see where he condemned homosexuals like he did the Pharisees, adulterers, hypocrites etc. Jesus taught love and forgiveness, not hate and judgment. That's more than I can say for the so-called Christians on this thread (I'm not including you in this, LR) who show precious little understanding of Jesus' teachings in their comments about gays:

"The queer lobby has gotten very powerful for just less than 1% of the population and a vile 1% at that"

"Apparently the queer lobby doesn't want people to have their own beliefs anymore"

"I hope this carpet munching bitch gets canned"

"GQ and A&E are a bunch of metrosexual pajama buys, like most of the leftist trash around here."

"The faggots are being judgmental."

How do you square these comments and others like them with what Jesus taught? They're polar opposites. People can condemn homosexuality on religious grounds without having to sink to this level of hatred. I call it faux Christianity, nit-picking the details while ignoring the overall message.
