50th Anniversary of JFK Assassination-Its lasting effect on the U.S., the world

Just wondering how you so easily can refer to JFK as a "corrupt asshole" while the likes of George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan escape totally unscathed from your critique. Reagan was at best a wolf in sheep's clothing---the kind, doting gradfatherly-type who started the de-regulation ball rolling that's effect we still feel today in a society ruled by greed and corporate interests. Bush ain't so lily white either with a questionable past being the the director of the C.I.A. What history books are you reading. anyway? Might take a look at "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" by Greg Palast for another point of view. Just a suggestion. Hey, I'm no scholar when it comes to politics, but for anyone refer to one of our presidents as a "corrupt asshole" should require some sort of valid explanation for using such a term. Please provide us with one...

actually it was Carter that began the deregulation ball rolling. One of the few bright spots of Carters admin.

How can you refer to this as a "bright spot"? After almost 30 years of the effects deregulation, where are we now that causes you to believe this "bright spot" has lead us to a place that's beneficial toward anyone but Corporate America?

The Bull Market economy of 1984-2008. That was not only the strongest economy in US History, but if you study the US economy from 1780-2013, you will discover that sustained growth of that magnitude without a massive recession is basically non-existant.

Was George Zimmerman on the grassy knoll or in the School Book Depository? Inquiring minds want to know...
Oswald acted alone.
Means, method, mode , opportunity, classic way to look at a crime.

Hi there! I'm at DCJunkies too, and we posted back and forth there - but not about Oswald. I enjoyed our conversations immensly about rock music,.......

Everything i've seen over the years implies Oswald might have had a 2nd shooter -but nothing ever pans out.

I'd be more then willing to discuss this, as the time gets closer to that dreadful day.

I was 8 years old - still remeber the days in slow motion sadness.

50th ANNIVERSARY OF JFK'S ASSASSINATION--ITS LASTING EFFECT ON OUR COUNTRY, THE WORLD

Hey, CosmicRocker,

Really great to hear from you. Been away in Northern California for the past 6 weeks. Thought I'd share a YouTube with you...performed by The Byrds...a song called "He Was a Friend of Mine". It's based on an old traditional folk song probably from the 40's. After JFK's assassination, Roger McGuinn updated the lyrics as a tribute to Kennedy and it was released on an early Byrds album. Hey, you probably know all about this, but I wasn't sure.....

TY Rick. words fail me.

I was five years old and in my first year of school.

I walked home and entered my homes back door to see the TV blaring.

My Mother looked at me and told me Kenendy was shot dead.

I was pround of myself for know that was the president.

I sat down in front of the TV and watched.

My mother was a goldwater supporter.

My dad likely voted for kenendy.

My introduction to politics was that right leaning people will kill people if they dont get what they want.

I don't believe the official story.

Lots of Americans dont

go get my quote on that.

Ruby's Motive[edit]

Ruby later said he had been distraught over Kennedy's death and that his motive for killing Oswald was "...saving Mrs. Kennedy the discomfiture of coming back to trial."[225] Others have hypothesized that Ruby was part of a conspiracy. G. Robert Blakey, chief council for the House Select Committee on Assassinations from 1977 to 1979, said: "The most plausible explanation for the murder of Oswald by Jack Ruby was that Ruby had stalked him on behalf of organized crime, trying to reach him on at least three occasions in the forty-eight hours before he silenced him forever."[226]

Dallas-Fort Worth[edit]

The Oswalds soon settled in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, where Lee's mother and brother lived. Lee began a manuscript on Soviet life, though he eventually gave up the project.[65] The Oswalds also became acquainted with a number of anti-Communist Russian and East European émigrés in the area.[66][67] In testimony to the Warren Commission, Alexander Kleinlerer said that the Russian émigrés sympathized with Marina, while merely tolerating Oswald, whom they regarded as rude and arrogant.[68][n 5]
