but we believe they ARE equal.....you're the one claiming we believe the rights of the unborn supersede those of the mother.....

Drama isnt really going to get you anywhere in this discussion, altho that is the pro-lifer's greatest weapon.
but we believe they ARE equal.....you're the one claiming we believe the rights of the unborn supersede those of the mother.....
haven't we done this before?.......
just war theory, capital punishment, self defense......
Those are not 'murder.' The pro-life side specifically claims abortion is murder.
Try again?
Why yes, we have:
So then, abortion is not murder?
Give me examples in American society where it is legal to take the life of a person
its what you asked for.....
if abortion was not considered legal it would be murder......in several states, taking the life of an unborn child through any act other than an abortion is treated as murder......
consider for example the Travon Martin case......the law provides for self defense.....the jury decided it WAS self defense......are there not many liberals who say it was murder, to this day?
they want "stand your ground" repealed because they say Zimmerman got away with murder......I want abortion to be illegal because Planned Parenthood engages in murders every day......
(Lorca: do you really want laws and convictions taking place in this country because: "they want" and "they say?")
No, the minute the law AND even (most) pro-lifers allow terminating the pregnancy in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother's life is in danger, that is clear proof that they are NOT equal.
Give me examples in American society where it is legal to take the life of a person (someone who has been born) to save someone else from mental anguish, dire health consequences, or death?
Even most pro-lifers find this acceptable (and let's be clear...NO ONE thinks it's "good," not even pro-choice people).
Because her rights DO supersede those of the unborn
(Lorca: do you really want laws and convictions taking place in this country because: "they want" and "they say?")
since the state does not recognize ANY rights for the unborn I expect that went without saying.....the issue is whether that should change.....
I'm not proposing a change in law because "they say".....I'm proposing a change in the law because it's the just thing to do.....
And I'm trying to see where you would have LEGAL grounds to do so.
I think your use of 'just' is also interesting....but that's up to you. IMO, it's incredibly 'unjust' to insist that a woman carry a 'meaningless' or 'unwanted' or 'unaffordable' lump of tissue that can kill her, damage her health, or ruin her future prospects of education or job.
???....passing the law CREATES the legal grounds.....not the other way around.....
you see, that's where we differ......I consider it unjust to pretend that a living human is nothing more than a lump of tissue......as we have already noted, either killing the baby or delivering it have an equal chance of killing her or damaging her health......and if she puts the child up for adoption it will have zero impact on her prospects for education or a job.....
But I dont see why you dont realize that you cannot control what a woman thinks or feels.
obviously not all of them...we value personal rights
no one is trying to control what she thinks or feels....merely trying to keep her from killing her children...
She has many options, American women know these. You should respect her enough to let her decide what is best for HER.
Would you want some stranger making life-changing or even life-endangering decisions for YOU? (I asked this earlier, no answer).
How about if killing her husband is best for her....you ok with that ?
Practially no abortions are done for any life endangering reasons.....they are done for convenience....not all, but most.
The life of the mother is ALWAYS paramount in any pregnancy.....

Doesnt killing her husband infringe on his rights, esp. his right to life?
Why does it matter why the abortion is done?
