People thought they were electing someone who would understand the necessity for the decriminalization of marijuana. That's going through the process. They can't be blamed for that.

What they can be blamed for is not putting pressure on Obama to do the right thing after he was elected. That would have also been the natural process of demanding change, not waiting for it like a handout.

but i'm not putting the onus just on Obama. I'm going all the way back to Nixon and every president in between. even those who didn't inhale.
 
Im happy for the step in the right direction, I agree his past on the issue is wrong. I am happy to see that at least the democrats are consistently a little better than the Republicans in the above polls.

Judging From Prosecutions, Obama Is 80 Percent Worse Than Bush on Medical Marijuana

According to a new report from California NORML, "over 335 defendants have been charged with federal crimes related to medical marijuana in states with medical marijuana laws." Despite Barack Obama's promises of prosecutorial restraint in this area, "153 medical marijuana cases have been brought in the 4¼ years of the Obama administration, nearly as many as under the 8 years of the Bush administration (163)." In other words, Obama is averaging 36 medical marijuana prosecutions a year, compared to 20 a year under his predecessor. And although Attorney General Eric Holder has repeatedly claimed the Justice Department is not targeting suppliers who comply with state law, "the DOJ has targeted many facilities that were in full compliance with local laws and regulations."

I beleive it.

So I guess Obama is not my friend,,,,,, unless I want to put my family, and friends in jail.

Which I don't.

One thing I'd like to know is "how many relitives of politicians get busted for dope, and what's their sentence compared to other non-relitives"?

It's also costing the states millions of dollars in lost revenue and jobs.

I know. They're taking tax payers off the streets, and ruining them financially. Only making them dependent, or more dependent on government welfare. Either as a prisoner, or out of prison.
 
I just realized that Dixie isn't around anymore. He's for a big police state.

Not just that. Medical marijuana clinics provide jobs and pay millions in taxes to the states.

Harborside in California was generating over 20 million in revenue alone.

My impression is people still toke like it was the weak stuff; they don't account for the increased potency. but maybe that's only people of my generation.

Am I the only person on the board who doesn't smoke? I'm not asking that like weed is a bad thing just that it seems many here have said they do.

I agree.

Another thing that is bad is we're putting people who would probably never victimize anyone in a place where victimizers are.

Than the gov't turns around and gives early release to victimizers, to make room for non victimizers, because of overcrowding.
