So many jerks still in the world. Who cares what color headband a kid is wearing?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/katie-vyktoriah/what-happened-when-my-son-wore-a-pink-headband-to-walmart_b_3696113.html

Out of nowhere a big booming voice rang out. "THAT'S a BOY?!" The man was overly large with a bushy beard and a camouflage shirt with the arms cut off. He had tattered shorts and lace-up work boots with no laces. I could smell the fug of cigarette smoke surrounding him, and there was a definite pong of beer on him.

"Yes," I said simply, still smiling.

With no notice, the man stepped forward, grabbed the headband off of Dexter's head and threw it to the bottom of our shopping cart. He then cuffed Dexter around the side of his head (not hard, but that is not the point) and said with a big laugh, "You'll thank me later, little man!"

At the same time as I stepped forward, Dexter grabbed his head where the man had smacked him and threw his other hand forward, stomping his foot and shouting, "NO!" I got between my son and this man and said very firmly, "If you touch my son again, I will cut your damn hands off."

The guy snarled at me, looked at Dexter with disgust and said, "Your son is a f*cking fa***t." He then started sauntering out, but not before he threw over his shoulder, "He'll get shot for it one day."

There is so much wrong with what happened that I don't even know where to begin.

This man removed an article of clothing that my son was wearing. It doesn't matter that it was a headband. It is never OK.

This man forcefully touched my child without permission. He thought he was being funny. I did NOT think he was.

He called my son an extremely derogatory word AND suggested that he deserved to die.

How is ANY of this okay?!

THIS is what bigotry looks like.

A grown man who should know better decided it was OK to step in and "teach" my child what it is to be manly. He thought it was OK to judge my child because he was not adhering to HIS idea of what a little boy should be. Clearly, the man was a homophobe, which is bad enough -- but to attribute gay tendencies to a 2-year-old is as RIDICULOUS as attributing STRAIGHT tendencies to a 2-year-old. It just doesn't compute!

A 2-year-old HAS no sexuality.

You should have had him arrested. He commited a variety of crimes. I can't believe you allowed him to saunter away.

The woman in the story wasn't me; but yes, I'm surprised she let him walk away, but I think she was just too shocked to do anything.

Back in the late 80's I was with a date at a night club. It was a fairly nice crowd but some rednecks were there too. I was wearing a pair of dress slacks and a pink button down oxford shirt. My date was a little hottie that would have been right down 3D or Billy's allie (read she was petite with big boobs). Anyways two rednecks were near where we were seated and started talking about me wearing a pink shirt like I wasn't even there. I ignored them cause I was out to have a good time with my date but about the third time they called me a faggot my date got pissed and asked them what their problem was. They made some sort of wise ass comment that I must be gay for wearing a pink shirt to which I unwisely retorted "So what? Does one of you guys want to suck my dick or something?"

For some reason that pissed them off and they got up and started taking menacing while I laughed at them and my date had the presence of mind to wave the bouncer over. When he figured out they were trying to start shit over the shirt I was wearing he asked them to leave but they made a comment, that I didn't take serious, as they got up to leave. That they'd be waiting for me outside.

The assholes did too. They waited out in the parking lot till we left the bar.

Mott- I hate dudes like that. How did it end? Hope they just continued the BS & it didn't get physical...
They tried to start some shit but I was carrying a sap in my jacket pocket. When I pulled it out to defend my self they kept a healthy distance from me until my date got the car and pulled up next to me. It ended up pretty well. She was so thrilled to play the get away doll and the heroine that I was well rewarded when we got back to my apartment...lesson learned....women think guys who have the confidence to wear pink and stand up to assholes are sexy! :)

There's a man here in Columbus who's famous for wearing pink shirts and trust me.....no one in their right mind would give Chris Spielman shit for wearing a pink shirt!!

Cool - I love a good ending.

I used to rock a pink oxford. I looked great in that shirt. Think I'll have to buy a new one this week...

That happened when I was living in Dayton. What was funny was a couple of month later I was in the small town where my parents live and got hassled by some cops for drinking and driving when I had had a few beers at a local dive bar. To make a long story short, when they patted me down they found my sap and charged me with CCW. Later when I had to face the judge on the charge he asked my why I was carrying a concealed weapon. I simply said "Your Honor....I live in Dayton.".....he thought about it for a minute...then dropped the charge on the basis that I had no criminal record and Dayton had a serious crime problem at the time.

I don't wear much pink. I did some when I was a kid but was told I should wear fall colors and dropped the pinks and reds from my wardrobe. Who knows ... My wife did buy me a pink shirt once. Maybe I should wear it more often.

Chris Spielman was one of my fave players, also.
He's an icon here in Columbus....just as much for how he supported his wife when she was being treated and eventually dying from breast cancer.

Now a days if anyone fucks with your for wearing pink you just have to tell them that your wife, mother, daughter, sister, etc, has breast cancer. They'll shut up.
