Inequality In U.S. Is Scarily High, Rising (INFOGRAPHIC)

yes that is my higher concern.

I was just trying to get him to care.

It will be good for the economy though

I need more money so I can spend into the economy more. Any chance the government is going to come tell my boss I need to pay raise?

Get another job, that is what the poor people are told to do by some of the zealots on this board.

Maybe he should stop drinking! Imagine all the money he would have to buy shit then! He lives in San Francisco I shudder to think how much it costs him to get shitfaced three times a week. On Fire Island my drinks were 15 bucks each this weekend.

I could. Working the 60-70 hours a week at the start-up where I am now is about what I can do. You saw desh's comment. I need more money so I can spend more to put it in the economy.

I have been told it is expensive to drink in NY, lol.

Though I still splurged on a gorgeous necklace at a small fire island shop. It is three silk cords with a stunning hand carved red rose. I tried it on and literally like five people in the store stopped and said, but that it looks gorgeous on you. Then I was like, man I should have had fewer drinks! That is what I do with my money, like Cawacko I live a privileged life. Do I feel like I wish I had more money? Sure! But I still understand I am pretty privileged and I never whine about the lucky duckies on food stamps making minimum wage and why doesn't the government do that for me! I am convinced lately that righties just have underdeveloped lizard brains. It's really not their fault.

This is one of the worst and most hateful comments ever posted on JPP. You deserve a week in time out. Give up drinking??

Oh yeah, even more so in the city, but Fire Island is right up there with Manhattan. Long Island has a mix. I don't often pay 15 for a drink on LI. The places here that charge that much are those pretentious ones like Rare 650 which I call "douchebag central" and avoid like the plague except when I am forced for business. I am pretty convinced that Long Island has cornered the douchebag market.

Drinks in SF aren't New York expensive but they aren't cheap either. However there are a couple of bars around me that have cheap prices and I know the people that work there who give me deals.

or just try to keep their heads above water

lmao... the majority of people on minimum wage are 25 and under. High school and college kids. The next biggest chunk are part time workers. Minimum wage jobs are for learning skills, not high wages. They are predominantly designed for students and those adults that want part time work. Yes, there are those that are at or under poverty level that are heads of households trying to get by. But that is why we have other safety net programs. Raising the minimum wage simply doesn't have much affect or change in purchasing power, if it did, we would raise it up to $20. While I am exaggerating the raise, the point is the same. There is no magic number of dollars per hour that will help people get out of poverty. That is not the problem. The problem is the skill set.
