The Christian Right appears to be in decline, yet Republicans still pander to them. What gives?

It's their guns.

The Christian Right is definitely in decline. They still make a lot of noise, but their dominance in politics is nothing like it was through the '80s and '90s and poll after poll shows this. It's a matter the Christian Right getting older and dying off, and the culture wars simply growing less intense. Younger Christians are just not freaking out about things like gay people, for instance.

Also a lot of Christian churches are consciously deciding to withdraw from too much political activity as they discovered that rather than being merely "in the world," they've become too much "of the world," and that such energy being poured into politics and policy has corrupted their vision of Jesus' teachings, and their missions as Christian congregations.

Even better news: as the Christian Right declines, the Christian Left grows.

You've been to one too many tailgate parties.

You're dreaming because Obama is president and you don't even know who the Christian right is.

The so called Christian right could step on you like you were a bug. All they need (who's they?) is some sound leadership which they're not getting from the Republicans right now.

Sorry, but they had their heyday in the 90's and are now slowly losing their grip, they are dinosaurs, like yourself.

Professor, what makes you think everybody in America thinks like you do?

You're not even close to final victory .. you fucked the country totally up now it's time to pay the fiddler.

They have so little grip that the left trips over each other racing to the mike to say how Christian they are. Including obuma

Rational Americans think like myself, seperation of church and states, unrational folks think like you and their ideas are fading, but not fast enough.

actually, the thread subject is liberals displaying their ignorance.....
No that's not it at all. The thread subject concerns itself with Bible thumpers, who are, in fact, "Christians" in name only, and practicing the exact opposite of Christ' teachings, and the fact that they are losing clout and influence in mainstream America, and rightly so, because of separation of church and state.

LOL...Now there's a wet dream.

You wont see any first tier Republican candidates for the nomination granting any interviews on this issue anytime soon.

Randal Paul just relegated himself to 3rd tier today with his attack on the court.
