Republican Mark Sanford Defeats Colbert's Sis for SC US Congress..NICE

Republicans lack intelligence, democrats lack courage. I'm not talking about the leaders, I'm talking about the constituents.

A volatile mix of colonized minds.

Democrats best get used to republican victories they don't understand. There are a lot of them heading your way.

It's a total shock to me that the Republican won in a district that was +18% for Romney in 2012. I don't understand how that possibly could have happened.

Correct. The fact that she did as good as she did in this district is remarkable.

On another note...let's chalk up another win for good ol' Republican family values! NOT!

"With all of the precincts reporting, Sanford had about 57 percent of the vote in the 1st District to 43 percent for Curtis Bostic, the former county council member. The candidates were vying in the GOP runoff after they finished as the top two vote-getters in a 16-way GOP primary last month".....................

I would have selected anybody, and I mean 'almost' anybody, rather than be forced to choose between this man who has clearly displayed an incapacity to control himself in even the most obvious circumstances. This opponent must have been truly horrible, either that or the people in District 1 have no capacity for choosing leaders.

This is why I was wondering about the Primary, that is where the true contest would have been. But even that wasn't much of a contest. I have less respect for the people in that district than I expected.

Who said it was a shock? I'm not the one who said they didn't understand it.

Your 'shock' is coming. :0)

I only briefly read about this race but there were a handful of people running in the primary and I believe it was basically name recognition that sadly won it for Sanford.

Sounds like a veiled threat, the problem the Lib Demos have is that "baggage laden" Mark Sanford might have been the worse candidate to run and he still won big time. I think that your shock is coming, Obama was a nice failed social experiment, butt it is time to move on down the road. Libs cannot govern, butt they are good at talking, so they need to be placed in consulting positions, not straight leadership roles. The People have spoken with their election of such a burdened candidate. Stevie Colbert, who has a huge TV following could not change the inevitable outcome..."Don't be Left out, Be Right on".

:0) It was no threat .. it was a prediction that democrats are going to get creamed in the midterms again.

You're talking to the wrong person about Obama. I've never supported that illusion.

That being said .. the people also spoke when they re-elected Obama. Unless republicans can get smarter, winning national elections will not come easily.

so they elect a guy who USED the peoples money to visit his piece on the side and lied about where he was so he could not be found if needed to serve his state.

I guess at least he didnt wear diapers to a prostitute who is now dead

First off this is no shock, this is South Carolina which is a conservative state. Second, how can ANY dem show outrage at this when less than a month ago, Anthony "look at my wiener" Wiener was running second to Quinn in the NYC mayor's race? Dems are no better about choosing the moral high ground with candidates than are republicans.

They're Republicans. der...

There's a HUGE difference between what Weiner did and what Sanford did. Weiner took a picture of his fine Jewish penis and sent it to someone; Sanford lied like a shrivelled up old prick to his people and used state money to visit his mistress in South America.

Look how cool and totally independent-minded Soc is with his disdain for both parties. How clever.

I mean, it's not like there's much of a difference between sharing nude photos and actually leaving your wife for another woman (not to mention the dereliction of duty while "hiking the Appalachain Trail") and, really, Democrats and Republicans equally claim to be the defenders of "traditional family values," right?

Except Democrats don't make it their business to tell the rest of the country what they should and shouldn't be doing in the privacy of their own bedrooms.

"Family Values" Righties just love telling others how to behave...as long as they aren't expected to follow the rules they themselves lay down.

I could care less about the guys family, affair, the real crime was using the people's money to have his affair. Why would you ever trust the guy, again?

Name recognition winning shows stupidity on the voter's part in my opinion.
