29% think armed revolt might be necessary

With all due respect my friend, if you think there are millions of people waiting to fight against the government, you're headed for a serious letdown.

I suggest that before anyone starts to seriously think about rebellion, they should take a cold shower first, then attempt to understand the dynamics of revolution and human character.

You kind of sound like the British did, around the time of 1776.

so you're another person who refuses to look at the reality of numbers?

I am just a person who believes that a whole lot of gun nuts talk really tough, but would chose to stay at home rather than actually go out on the street and put their lives on the line... but hey, that's just my opinion.

It really is none of my concern anymore given my location, but if I were still living in the states, I would assist the authorities in any way I could... even by sitting in my living room and shooting any crazy gun toting insurrectionist who happened to walk past my house.

The government needs to be "preppers" in a global thermonuclear world.

I don't necessarily make fun of "preppers"....I just don't understand why people would want to live in a post apocalyptic world. I think I'd rather be at ground zero and meet my maker.

That's because you've had the gene for survival, removed.

Oh. That's what you took from that? What's the difference whether it's a nanosecond, a few weeks, or even a few years? Apparently, you think a global nuclear war is survivable. Even the best of preppers will run out of supplies at some point... then they'll be gone too. If you think differently, you're deluding yourself.

Are you of the opinion that all the goods stored in warehouses will automatically disappear?

I will answer both posts at once...my survival gene is quite intact. I just choose not to live in fear of an imagined bogeyman... which is what you guys seem to excel at. Perhaps it's not my "survival" gene....but your own cowardice that's the problem.

On to the second post....you really don't know much about radiation do you. Everything will be radioactive...should you choose to consume those items, you will suffer from radiation poisoning and die. The very air we breathe might not be suitable to sustain life.... so you may not even make it to a warehouse to find out.

If by chance you do...and find untainted food....that's only gonna last so long. The ground will be radioactive, and nuclear winter will be in full force.

Unless, of course....you deny the effects of nuclear war like you do AGW.

But what makes you think the authorities in Mexico want you to do anything?

And weren't you one who said others were dreaming. :palm:
What makes you think that the government would use weapons like that, against Americans; when they won't even use them against others?
Now add in that you actually think that every order to fire such weapons, will be followed.

Seems that you're the one who fears.

Ummm...I was thinking in general terms of a global thermonuclear war....which is 100x more likely than an armed rebellion that gets to the point that preppers will need to utilize them.

I fear nothing. I'm saved.

You may be saved; but you're a coward who doesn't want to live.

a "lunatic"? really? how cordial.
Right, using some of the same language back in a thread where people who point out that revolution isn't impossible are called "lunatics" is "not cordial" enough for you. I get that. I'm sorry you feel all hurty inside your tender heart.

to compare the US, a country where no one is really used to fighting anyone else and everyone lives a relatively cushy life under a well organized government with a powerful standing army and myriad levels of police forces to Afghanistan, where folks have been fighting one another in tribal settings for centuries and there IS no governmental organization to speak of is not "lunacy", but the comparison is certainly not valid.
Yet they fight, effectively, that same standing army you suddenly believe is unassailable. Lunacy is pretending that the US is somehow unassailable and that insurgency fighting is ineffective.

Quick attacks, hide among the populace, the US government not wanting to kill all those loyal citizens with bombs, etc. Yeah, it would be effective.

Lunacy is pretending that it would be "impossible"... The US government is taking it seriously, your attempt at dismissal is just inane but hopeful denial.

Relax, it was a joke. Although, when you persist in calling everyone who isn't anti-gun a "gun nut", you really are being a hypocrite to complain about my calling you Zippy.

Oh I wasn't complaining, I was just noting that up to now you've always been able to smack down anyone who annoys you without resorting to the schoolyard taunts.

And I'm sorry, but people who put their collection of guns ahead of the rights of their fellow Americans ARE gun nuts.

Other than yourself, there isn't one pro-gun poster here who has professed even 1/10th the support for the 1st amendment as they have for the 2nd.

I read an article (can't find it right now) that said at the start of the Revolutionary war, only about 1/3 of the population wanted a war with the British. The rest were almost equally divided between those who wanted to side with the British and those who were undecided.

You seem to think that there are only two sides. Those who would stand up and those that would side with the Government.
Plus you seem to think that everyone in the Government is going to continue to support the Government.

Sure, anybody thinking like the founding fathers did are surely nutjobs , right dipshit? I mean seriously crazy to believe in freedom and be willing to fight and die for it,right dipshit? You believe too much leftist propaganda .. that crap will rot your brain..

Oh please...let's not confuse the Founding Fathers, who fought and died for this country, with a bunch of liquored up red necks looking for any excuse to shoot them some "damn immigrants".
