EDIT: What you don't get is this....I am a Christian too. I just happen to feel that it is my responsibility to teach my kids about Christ. Not the Public School system....call me old fashioned that way.

are we a muslim nation founded on muslim core beliefs, but if they want to go ahead, I suppose they would be mostly alone, by the way some schools allow students to leave class and pray to mecca, what say you!

That was 5 years later, douchebag, and not in the source I referenced. In 1996 he said he believed in God. One can be agnostic while still holding a belief in God or it may be that his views changed after 5 years. I don't know but there is no proof that he was an atheist.

No...you're falling for the assumption that what happened in the OP didn't happen. All I've been saying all along is to wait until the evidence comes out. If there was e-mails sent to teachers that stated that the assembly was mandatory....then the plaintiffs have a legitimate case.

The thread obviously devolved from there into a theological debate...which, I must admit contributing to.

What lie. There you go again with your baseless accusations. It has been claimed that the school held an assembly and compelled the kids to attend. That's not a lie it has not even been seriously questioned.

I say there is a HUGE difference between allowing a student to leave the classroom to pray and forcing students to attend a religious assembly.

You are completely missing the entire point. Namely that the OP has the assembly being run by school officials and the truancy officer forcing kids to attend. THAT is the issue.

oh, so he was in favor of there being a god before he opposed there being a god......was he John Kerry?.......he said he was an agnostic the day before he was executed, I don't care what he believed five years or fifty years earlier.....

???....really?.....and who's the idiot that hasn't questioned it.....the school (as you pretended you acknowledged even in the opening post) not only questioned it but stated the school didn't hold it and that it was a voluntary event hosted by students.......what isn't seriously questioned is your dishonesty.........
