Now Politics In Sports?

With that cat avatar, you must be a gal, a Feminazi with huevos or you are one of those gay Lib girleymen that have infested the Democrat Party? Anyway, Tim Tebow, in Jacksonville I hope, will come back to Defeet your Jet-sins. My question to you, why ARE there so many naging effeminate Liberal Men? Also, is that why Liberal women like Conservative men Moore, and I ought to know?

So your argument that Tebow was benched for his religious beliefs gets thoroughly debunked, and you resort to personal attacks? Typical.

Actually, it's worse than that.

His argument is that a liberal owner won't play Tebow because Tim's a Teaparty advocate. Worse yet, he makes the claim even though Johnson's comments were all over the news just before the election. Woody Johnson headed the NY Romney campaign office.

Almost the silliest thread I ever read. Well, maybe not the silliest but it ranks right up there. Tebow's a good kid and likely conservative for a lot of the same reasons that I am, but he's a bad quarterback. I am one of his biggest fans (now that he's in the pros...rooted against him in college) and tremendously enjoyed the success he had helping the Broncos reach the playoffs last year, but you got to call 'em like ya see 'em. Politics plays no role in his riding the bench.

Agree with everything in your post. The OP jumped the shark with this one. Not sure why the Jets even traded for Tebow. It made no sense. Is he the quintessential QB? Nope. Can the kid play football and win games? His history says yes. I think there is a place in the NFL for him.

Come on now, this board is full of political junkies and I bet most here don't know that answer off the top of their head. Do you know it?

Nope but neither do I know the batting avg of any current baseball player.
Nor the win loss record of any sports team, etc.
Many of you do know those figures.
THAT is my point.

Ok. Thanks for stating the obvious? That people are sports fans and may know their team's record vs. almost no one in this country who could tell you what the Congressional vote counts on bills are isn't really earth shattering news.

It shows that people put more emphasis on entertainment than government.

That's bullshit. Tebow is a young man of good character from what I've seen and he should be applauded for that. I have also heard nothing but good report about his work ethic and his understanding and knowledge of the game. That's an uncalled for cheap shot.

Dude...I was just feeding the trolls....:)

Who was the dimwit that said TeBOW would go to the Jags? No way. They had three chances at the looooooooser and three other teams had a chance. Give him a job as water boy or make him team Chaplain.

So you don't really care about the jets or any of the teams involved. Your just queer for Tebow based on his politics. That's gay, you're gay.

Give me a break. Tim Tebow was an exceptional athlete in college because of his size and his ability to run people over. As a passer he's mediocre by NFL standards. He has issues with accuracy, particularly on middle and short deliveries though his long ball good and he can hit on stride when he has clear vision and when he has time to set his feet. That doesn't happen often in the NFL and his inability to adjust indicate problems with his timing and foot mechanics. He has trouble seeing the windows in coverage before they open nor does he seem to be able to throw his recievers open and his throwing to the sidelines is attrocious. He's only hitting about 30% and those are important passes to nail to gain first downs and keep momentum. Tebow also takes to long to make his reads and that is compounded that he moves poorly in the pocket. His first step back from the line of scrimmage is short and hell that's high school shit. He does poorly at moving up in the pocket or side to side in the pocket and is easily derailled by pressure or a hand in his face. As a runner he has decent atleticism but his running style is that of a bruising fullback and lets face it, Tim may be a tough and a hard nosed runner but at the NFL level he's not running away from anyone and he's not going to run over them. Tebow also has problem making reads across the entire field. In that respect he's not Tom Brady but it's understandable considering Florida's single read system. He has made significant improvements but has a long ways to go. Quite often a man will be open on the opposite side of the field and Tebow fails to see them. Then there's his throwing mechanics. Tebow looks like he's throwing a bowlling ball overhanded instead of a football. Have you seen all the wobblers he throws? Tebow does well passing as a pure north/south passer but he sucks at going from side line to side line. As I pointed out earlier, his completion percentage doing that is about 30%. That's a pretty good indicator of mechanical problems.

If Tebow wants to be a top tier starting QB he has a lot of timing and mechanics issues he needs to work on and since that's like teaching someone how to speak a new language.....that's a tall order. He has a excelleng understanding of x's and o's and knows his progressions well and his athleticism and strength are strong points but a QB is hired to throw the ball and Tim has a lot of work to do there. He either needs to be in a situation where someone can train him to learn superior throwing mechanics (if he can) or an offense that will gear the offense towards his special athletic skills (unlikely to happen).

So if anyone if politicizing the situation with Tebow.....it's motor mouths like you.

I rarely agree with you, but you are right on here, politics aside, and I don't think it is politics at all, Tebow is not the best quarterback. Having said that, I don't think he has had time to mature in a single system with a Coach long enough to make great strides as a Pro Quarterback. As a Christian i love his attitude, and lifestyle, but that does not make him a starting quarterback in the NFL.

True. The Tebow issue has nothing to do with politics, but we already knew that.

The only reason he's a national figure is because of his on field Xtian Tourettes outbreaks. Otherwise, nobody would care that a 3rd string QB ran the Broncos to a few unlikely wins last season. It's far more likely that the Denver defense took them as far as they got last year.

Notice how the Broncos are doing with a real QB this season?

I still maintain that Tebow would make a world class tightend. But his mechanics as a QB leave a lot to be desired.

And with his work ethic I think he could learn the position well, what was the Redskin tight end or h back cooley I think? took him everyyear in fantasy football got me great points every time I took him.

Meh, been a number of top tier QB's who lacked character. It's not a prerequisite to play in then NFL......certainly not in Cincinnati! LOL

I think there's a lot of teams in the NFL that would hire Tebow as a project QB......if he'd take a pay cut. Personally I think the CFL would be a good option for Tebow. It sure didn't hurt Warren Moon or Doug Fluties careers.

And there's lots and lots of white people in Canada. He'll feel more comfortable!

Actually, that's me. I'm queer for Tebow...

But I digress, the NY Jets coaches and suits are retards for not utilizing Tebow in a manner, let alone an effective one. He will likely get traded to some team in equal need of him that actually understands how to manage a winning strategy...

1) Tons of players make signs of reverence after good play. Early this season, a Denver player Tebowed to show his support of his former teammate.
2) It's the Denver offensive line that is strong, and allowed Tebow to be as effective as he was. It's defense was just an added bonus.
3) It was more than just a few victories. He carried them from 1-4 into the playoffs. A few wins would have looked something like 5-11...
4) What is a Xtian? Is that some sort of leftist shorthand for something (this is rhetorical, I know how much you guys hate Christianity)?

Tebow went WAY beyond crossing himself after a good play. He was singing hymns on the field/sidelines, and quoting scripture. I don't care if he proclaims Satan as lord, my point is that the Xtian fanatics who know nothing about football jumped on the Tebow bandwagon. It made for amazing revenue for Denver.
I don't have a problem with it. Just keeping the facts straight.

And clearly you are one of those who doesn't follow football. Tebow lost his way to the playoffs. In fact, the final game of the season was a 7-3 loss to Kansas City. Couple that with some key wins by others in the league, and the Broncos made the playoffs through the process of elimination.

In case you forgot how the season went, in the midst of all of your praising the lord:
