Boehner: Obamacare on table for 'fiscal cliff' talks

As congressional leaders and President Barack Obama search for common ground to tame the national debt as the weeks dwindle down to end of the year, House Speaker John Boehner said the Affordable Care Act, often referred to as Obamacare, must be included in deficit negotiations.

"We can't afford it, and we can't afford to leave it intact," Boehner wrote of Obama's signature healthcare initiative in the Cincinnati Enquirer. "That's why I've been clear that the law has to stay on the table as both parties discuss ways to solve our nation's massive debt challenge."

What does the fiscal cliff have to do with deficit reduction? The fiscal cliff would result in benefits being cut off and taxes being raised. That would reduce the deficit by itself. If you want to reduce the deficit, the fiscal cliff is a golden oppurtunity. If you are a sane individual who cars about our society, you want to fix the fiscal cliff, and keep short-term deficits high. Repealing Obamacare would only increase long term deficits.

I got online and "chatted" with her for quite awhile and got her actually calmed down enough to say that she was all right. Guess who reply-posted that she should just go ahead and do it, commit suicide, or get off.....It was our own Zappy, and let's see him deny that one? It drove insurance rates up by allowing 26 year old adults to stay on their parents insurance- RIDICULOUS

It rations healthcare for the elderly, if it follows Canada, you will die wait for a simple stint procedure.

Many progressives believe the fiscal cliff is just hype and we shouldn't do anythng about it. On this site I believe Darla feels that way.

Funny. I had observed the exact opposite. Explain to me how reactionary southern social policy and plutocratic economic tendencies is in any way in the best interest of the more diverse and sophisticated industrial midwest?
