Romney loses, what now for Republicans?

I saw Dick Morris' column; usually, I'm not a big gloater after elections, and I'm generally just relieved more than vindictive. But it was nice to watch him squirm a bit.

As for Christie, he's gov of NJ, so any cache with Democrats won't hurt him at all there. If the GOP wants to blame him nationally, I doubt he'll care much. And you're right about the big "Romney momentum" - talk about an overhyped, overplayed hand.

I read that he loves being governor.

RE: Christie,I live in NJ about 30 minutes from Seaside Heights, and I am a Republican, that being said, I dont like Christie personally. He's rough, abrasiveand sometimes, rude. I think he would be a major turn off to female voters. He HAS made some tough choices and done some things well, but as a potential presidential candidate, I think he would be a mistake for the GOP.

Anybody that is trying to blame Christie for Romney loss,is reaching for straws. Dick Morris has proven,he doesnt know what he is talking about, and I really dont pay much attention to him. I DO feel that Christie was WAY OVERLY friendly to Obama, and used his appearance with him for his own political aspirataions in 2016. He could have said "thanks to the president,he's done a great job, we appreciate his efforts", but he went wayy overboard in his praise to the point it seemed like it wasnt real. Just my opinion, I think he was using the opportunity to look like he was being bi-partisand and "looking like" a Gevernor. Dont get me wrong,I think he really DOES care about NJ and really was upset about the storm....make no mistake about that. I just think he tried to use the photo op to his advantage.

I dont think anybody should be claiming Christie cost Romney the election,it simply is a stupid idea

ROFLMAO... wow, you are seriously delusional

Do we really have to do this AGAIN?

Reagan/Bush I blew the deficit into the stratosphere.

Clinton beat it down

Bush II blew it out again (250% increase)

Obama has spent less as a % than any pres since WWII.

Deal with it.

Proof...6 trillion in debt in 4 years, compared to the same amount from Bush over 8 years....the difference is, Bush was fighting costly wars. Obama was "making peace" and ending the war. Costs should have gone down but didnt. Obamacare will be the most bloated and costly mistake ever forced onto the American public. It DOES include a tax(as the Supreme court ruled),and within 8-10 years, we will spend .92 cents of every dollar to pay for it...he wants bigger govt, more programs, more regulations....are you that stupid? All of that stuff costs money. When we spend more than we make its called a DEFICIT.Thats what we are witnessing. Thats what we will continue to witness

Obama won by over 2.5 million on the popular vote. Republicans better start believing in more than guns, religion and hate. Catholics elected Obama, dems are religious too! Dumb asses.

Hello....the poular vote is almost 50/50, 49/50....this country is divided, its obvious. If you dont recognize that, your party may be doomed next election just like mine was this election. Alot of people do NOT want more tax and spend policies. We dont want a crushing deficit. We dont want bigger govt. Maybe we need to take a step back to take a step forward. Maybe we need to let Obama run us into a black hole,to prove that we are right, and have people swing back to our fiscal policies. I hope I am wrong, but my prediction(as well as many economists) is that Obamacare is going to sink us.

He won't sink anything IF the Repubs work with him to change policies. Look at all the flak Obama took and is taking concerning the withdrawal of troops. Recall Rumsfeld saying war was an option they could afford. The Conservative talks about not wanting bigger government. What do they think war is? That's the black hole. Instead of spreading democracy spread some free medical care. Instead of helping the Syrian with his war against his government help the American citizen who can't afford proper cancer treatments.

You need to get your math straight. Obama contributed 4 trillion to the debt. Two trillion of which he inerited via TARP, and as a response to mitigate the Bush recession. He also cut about 500 billion over the last two years by ending the Immoral war in Iraq and we will see further savings when we withdraw from Afghanistan. So, sell that soap to someone else. Three fourths of our national debt occured under Republican presidents or as a direct result of their failed policies.

1) Um... you need to get your math straight. Tarp was not $2 Trillion
2) Tarp could not have added much to the debt because Obama says it was almost all repaid.
3) LMAO... wrong, 3/4 did not occur under Rep Presidents given that a third occurred under Obama alone. Not to mention the $1.6T Clinton had. Add in the fact that AGAIN... you have to look at the make up of Congress if you truly wish to assign blame to one party or the other. The reality is that regardless of the make up of Congress or who is in the WH, the two parties have screwed us since Ike.

Do we really have to do this AGAIN?

Reagan/Bush I blew the deficit into the stratosphere.

Clinton beat it down

Again... Reagan added $1.6 Trillion to the debt, Bush 1 $1.4T, Clinton $1.6T

Clinton did nothing about the deficit until forced to do so by having to compromise with a Rep led Congress.

Bush II blew it out again (250% increase)

Yes, GW sucked ass fiscally.

Obama has spent less as a % than any pres since WWII.

LMAO... that is pure nonsense. You again are trying to use the financial crisis year as a base year. That is completely dishonest. He has added more per year to the nations debt than ANY other President, including Bush.

Deal with it.

These libs are totally ignoring the truth, which is why we find ourselves on the eve of a crushing & tremendous Deficit and spending spree. We borrow money we dont have to pay for stuff we dont need and cant afford as if spending more money will make it go away

They are also sick and tired of right wing identity politics.

???....did you say RIGHT WING identity politics?....
Blacks,93% voted for Obama
Latinos,71% voted for Obama
Unmarried women,67% voted for Obama
Age 18-28 voters, 60% voted for Obama

this was a land slide electoral victory
hardly.....350k votes spread over four swing states and this would have been a Romney presidency.....that's certainly not a landslide.....

Republicans now have no choice but to adopt a new strategy.
quite simple actually....keep the Southern Strategy, add the Midwest Strategy.....cut the Democrats off from MN, IA, WI, MI, OH, PA.....

A good example would be womens health. If Republicans ran on the position of "We don't believe in abortion on demand as a form of birth control. We believe it should only be used when the womans life and health are in jeapordy or when it is a case of rape or incest. We also believe a woman has an unrestricted rigth to access to birth control as determined by her and her physician as a private health matter.

lol....the funny thing is, you think that isn't already our position.....
