Mitt Romney’s Fair Share

Church of England is a huge fucking joke. They even take the Catholic stance on divorce, which makes no fucking sense whatsoever, seeing as that's the whole purpose of having it.

So laugh a little.
Religions are not jokes they are the manifestation of man's ignorance.

The real sensible Dixie thinks, regardless of how you feel about Mormonism, these people do amazing charity work and it should be commended. You've not refuted any point made on that, you just want to bash and rail about their religious beliefs. Well, here in America, we are all free to believe whatever we please, religiously. So that isn't a reason to persecute them, and it certainly doesn't negate what they have done for the needy and those in distress. The more you've spoken, the more you've revealed you are a religious bigot and someone who has no intention of acknowledging religious freedom, or the charity works of people you disagree with. You've revealed just exactly what kind of low-life piece of human debris you are, and that suits me just fine. The world certainly needs less people like you and more people like the Mormons.

There are many many charitable organisations ranging from the undoubtedly good, such as Medicins sans Frontieres and cafod to the definitely suspect such as the Church of the Latter day Saints and the Moonies.
'There' in America, the one thing you do NOT have is religious freedom. Most of your population indoctrinate their children into one superstition or other and spend, it sometimes seems, their every waking hour evangelising and demanding that your politicians obey religiously correct rules.
No politician in the US dares tell the truth as he/she sees it for to do so would take them out of their chosen profession.
Imagine if Obama or Romney, Ryan or Biden stated publicly that god is a requirement of the ignorant and has absolutely zero basis in fact.
You have no more religious freedom than Iran or China. Like the people of those two countries you have been hoodwinked into believing the opposite.
Wake up for goodness sake!

You need to wake up, YOU are the one who sounds like a raging lunatic. Jumping from cynical skepticism to narcissism and swinging wildly at everything you can find in your path, through your seething bitter rage. You're sounding like the type of person who goes into a theater and mows down the audience with a machine gun.

I don't give a crap what Mormons believe religiously, I am not a Mormon, and Mitt Romney isn't going to make me be a Mormon if he gets elected. They are a religion that does a great deal of humanitarian work around the world, they have a known reputation for this. Whether you agree with or even LIKE their religion or beliefs, you have to acknowledge the good things they have done to help people in need. If you are too blatantly prejudiced to do that, then FUCK OFF! It's as simple as that. I don't need to sit here and defend their religious beliefs, or give you a platform to continue spewing anti-religious claptrap. You've not presented a damn thing to back up anything you've tried to argue, from the Morman Church being a "business" to all these ridiculous claims of how we're all brainwashed proles. You're so full of shit, it's a wonder you can even post coherent sentences. Get a fucking grip, and get a life!

right on!.....if only the government would keep people from indoctrinating their children, THEN there would be religious freedom......oh, wait......(I can see why you had to leave England and move to HongKong......that little bit of freedom you still had left must have been a terrible burden to bear).........

I laugh at just that one. Catholic though I am, I have always had a lot of respect for many of the protestant reformers such as Luther and Calvin. These men actually believed in something, and could often make good arguments for their cause. Luther had legitimate points about corruption, just as Catholic saints from the Middle Ages who had come before him. Calvin can be easy to sympathize with when you become as cynical as I often am of human nature.

The Church of England was formed for immoral reasons, so that an adulterous king could separate from his first wife. Although Henry always tried to maintain a faux deference to Catholic theology (and even Luther remained in love with the celebration of Mass), I would much rather call him a heretic and curse his name than the other men of his time period, whose intentions were far more pure and noble.

Because a very large percentage of British citizens have turned away from religion many no longer bring their children to believe the same claptrap as they were taught. You, in America, have that yet to come. Let's hope it comes soon. If you wish to bring Hong Kong into the equation then first read a little.

Methinks you do protest too much.

you objected to parents teaching their children about their beliefs...
the only way to prevent that would be by laws restricting the teaching of religious beliefs....
you feel this is the path to religious freedom....

It is a strange world that you inhabit. Do you have a law in America that forces or prevents a parent from instilling politics into the child?
In my world we allow our children to learn and decide for themselves. The same is happening more and more regarding religion.
From what you say it would seem that America is lagging behind us ... just a little.
Laws? How stupid do you wish me to think you are?

Well when I see a group who is helping people in distress, and doing it better than anyone on the planet, and some jerk comes along and doesn't want to even acknowledge that, because they are simply too filled with hate for religion, then yeah... I am going to protest, and I don't think there is a "too much" when it comes to bigotry and prejudice, just like racial bigotry, it should always be confronted. These people believe some crazy shit, but so do you, in my opinion... if you went out there and helped some little girl with cancer or bought someone a wheelchair, I would still give you credit for doing something good. Regardless of the fact that you are a godless scumbucket, if you were consistently the first one the scene with humanitarian aid, I'd still acknowledge that. If, like Romney, you voluntarily gave 16% of your wealth to charity, it wouldn't matter to me what you believed, I wouldn't be posting threads here about how you've not paid your fair share. I get that it's politics and some people disagree with his politics, but this goes beyond politics, this is persecution of the man for his religious beliefs. Here in America we are all free to worship as we please, and maggots like you, have absolutely no say-so in the matter.

As I have said several times already the Mormons spend around $20-25 million a year on charity works which is pretty small beer compared to the total amount of revenue accrued from their businesses, tithes and investment which run into $5-7 billion per year. It could be lot more but the Mormons are very opaque when it comes to finances.

The LDS Church has not publicly disclosed its financial statements in the United States since 1959.[SUP][2][/SUP] The LDS church does disclose its financials in the United Kingdom[SUP][3][/SUP] and Canada[SUP][4][/SUP] where it is required to do so by law. In the UK, these financials are audited by the UK office of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

And you can continue to insist that tithes are donations, but they are not. A member's tithes to the church are completely different than a charitable contribution. The LDS Charities use 100% of ALL donations to help those in need. They don't use their membership's tithes to do this, no religious group does... but the Mormons DO pay for the operational and administrative costs of their charity wing from the tithes, which is more than most religious organizations do. Since this all came up, I have been searching for another charity group that uses 100% of the donations made to it, and I can't find another example. The Catholics have Sacred Heart Mission, which operates on charitable contributions, and uses Catholic volunteers, but they still have to pay costs of operation out of the donations they receive, it's not much, but there is some expenditure. The Salvation Army, another charity that uses most of what is contributed, but still, they have to pay for administrative costs out of the donations. Now, I have personally always given to the Salvation Army, because they do use about 95% of my donation to actually help the needy. But after the enlightenment of this thread, and researching LDS, I believe I might have to change my choice for donation. So, I doubt you've swayed any opinions away from supporting Romney or harmed the Mormons in any significant way, but you've caused at least this one person to consider donating money to them... GOOD WORK!!
