Should Illegals be Allowed to Receive Drivers Licenses?

Just a question from an ex military member ekg....How does an illegal serve in the military?

Here are the current requirements for recruitment....

Now you may say the "resident alien" part...but that is a specific legal term...It refers to being in the country legally.

my assumption would be that they don't know they were illegal because their parents brought them over as a baby(small child) and never told them and/or they knew but still they have lived, gone to school, worked, paid taxes and everything as an honorable American since being a baby/small child so they use whatever docs they used to live that American life....

Mitt Romney has said that if young illegals want citizenship, they need to join the service..

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s campaign office said that it is Romney's policy that “young” illegal aliens who join the U.S. military should be able to remain in the United States and attain legal permanent residency status

I'm not doubting you in any way om the regs, but just like there have always been gays in the military even when they were not allowed, there have also been illegal immigrants in it as well..

the character in Grand Theft Auto IV? Who the hell is Luis Lopez?

HA!

that is his name in GTA isn't it..

but no, Howie was talking about this guy..

which btw answers part of your question to me..

Yet if they find a way to join, a section of the Immigration and Naturalization Act provides them a path to citizenship.

The 1952 immigration law says foreign nationals who have "served honorably" during wartime may be naturalized "whether or not [they have been] lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence."

it's a good read.. here's a snip
The 1952 law has allowed some illegal immigrants in the military to become U.S. citizens, though how many isn't clear. And citizenship isn't guaranteed: It can turn on decisions made deep within the military bureaucracy.

Pfc. Juan Escalante of Seattle joined the Army using a fake green card and fought in Iraq. In 2003, Pfc. Escalante confessed that he had used fraudulent documents. The military allowed him to stay, and the U.S. gave him citizenship.

In her four years in the Air Force, Liliana Plata of Los Angeles won medals and promotions. In 2008, she was discharged after the military discovered she used another person's identity to enlist. In December 2010, U.S. Immigration and Citizenship Services denied her application for citizenship. A spokeswoman said the agency cannot comment on individual cases.

Between September 2001 and September 2010, 64,643 members of the armed forces were naturalized by the agency. The agency doesn't track how many came to the U.S. illegally.

The military supports the Dream Act, and military officials say more stringent scrutiny of identification has made it difficult for illegal immigrants to enlist in recent years. "We don't knowingly allow illegal immigrants to enlist," said George Wright, an Army spokesman.

But immigration attorneys say the practice is widespread, in part because of the lure of citizenship.

"Fraud enlistments are pretty common, and the government can deal with this in many ways. If they don't want to discharge, there are a dozen ways to look the other way," said John Quinn, an immigration attorney in San Diego who was previously involved in processing fraud enlistments for the Marines.

I'd support it if the license was clearly marked "non-citizen". It wouldn't even have to say "illegal", it just should be clear that they are not a citizen.

Yeah, that strikes me as a bit much. I mean, take a person who is brought here from Mexico at 2 and grows up in Peoria, Illinois for 15 years goes to school and all that. You want to just ship him back to Mexico?

Yes. Let's say someone steals your iPad and gives it to a two year old, should the two year old be allowed to keep it?

Why do libtardiots always twist themselves in knots to justify their bogus beliefs?

then you're a moron, because it doesn't say "non citizen"....either that, or you've been caught in yet another lie

You really are a fucking troll, aren't you?

Who is an International Driver's License for? NON-CITIZENS?

Take your semantics and shove it up your pruney ass.

As a 20 year truck driver, and someone whom has seen what illegal labor has done to the wages of other industries, like construction, drywall finishers, etc...I say hell no....!
Why not do something affective then. Like put the assholes who hire them in jail? No demand, no supply.

Meh, if they'd take 3D, they'd take anyone. ;)

Uhm, they all ready do that. My wifes Ohio drivers license is a different color than mine and it specifies that she's a resident alien and not a citizen.

you can be an american citizen and have an international driver's license idiot. just go down to your local dmv. if an illegal were to try to obtain an international driver's license for the US, they would have to get in their HOME COUNTRY, NOT THE US. do you ever get anything right? further, you claimed it said "non citizen". you could have admitted you're wrong, but you've doubled down.

thanks for proving you're a troll KKK member.

i predict you will run away from this post in embarrassment.
