Should Illegals be Allowed to Receive Drivers Licenses?

no. have drivers license can vote.

and nice try about the civil infraction. why don't we just give them citizenship nigel...after all, they haven't broken any criminal laws.

Actually it should be enough to have you forcibly removed from this country.

So the fact of coming here illegally should be enough to prevent them from getting a license. It's not exactly that they committed a civil infraction.

And what about people who maybe were brought here when they were like 2 years old or something. How do you deal with that situation?

=General Buck Turgidson;1062601]Not really. There are lots of felons who cannot vote that have driver's licenses.

don't be obtuse, it makes you look fat...;) you know exactly what i meant.

Actually, I think that's a pretty damn good idea, Yurt. What's the problem with it?

yeah...while we are at it...let us throw out the laws in the US. whats the problem with that?

I don't know what you meant. I took you to mean that giving drivers licenses to immigrants that lack proper documentation means that they would be permitted to participate in elections, which is untrue.

You said something about someone being obtuse?

The same way I already mentioned. Forcibly removing them from our country.

Yeah, that strikes me as a bit much. I mean, take a person who is brought here from Mexico at 2 and grows up in Peoria, Illinois for 15 years goes to school and all that. You want to just ship him back to Mexico?

from the US attorney himself:

The office of U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie

Monday, Christie said that while entering the country illegally is considered a federal misdemeanor, simply lacking legal immigration status is a civil violation.

"He did not say, nor did he mean, that entering this country through any means other than the appropriate immigration channels is a lawful act," the statement read. "It is not."

and btw...illegally crossing the boarder is a criminal offense

then you're naive. my bad. with merely a driver's license, you can register to vote. :pke:

You said something about someone being obtuse?

oh, so now you're unilaterally deciding which laws to uphold or keep and which ones to throw out...right? do you really believe our country would best be served with no immigration laws?

Yes, illegally crossing the border is a criminal offense. It's a misdemeanor. But illegal presence is not a criminal offense. It's a civil infraction.

Ideally said child would be found much earlier. I suppose in the instance you provided they'd be given a chance at citizenship. But that's not the norm from my understanding.

Anyone can register to vote if they want to commit at least one felony, driver's license or not.

You really have a bad habit not responding to questions and then asking several more of your own.
