The day a black man was elected, no strike that, the day a black man was nominated to run for President, a certain sub-group of citizens within this country went absolutely fucking bonkers.

They have spent the past three and a half years obstructing, criticizing, lying, and using every sneaky trick in the book to delegitimize the man who was elected president. When that didn't work they went even crazier and started questioning his birthplace, nationality, family, and education to continue their denial of his presidency. For the first time in history, the First Wife has become the target of slanderous, inane, and pointedly racist remarks.

At no juncture within our history has the divide been so obvious and the only reasonable explanation is because he's black.

It's become so bad we have people joining forums just so they can post chain emails, pass them off as truth; and then criticize others for rightfully calling them out.

When did this occur? Because I'll tell you what I have seen. Either agree with what is his agenda or get told that elections have consequences. That to me is not reaching out. Or, coming to a budget agreement with the opposing party speaker of the house, only to come back the next morning and poison the deal. That is not reaching out.

During the runup to voting for the ACA, Obama REPEATEDLY asked the congressional Republicans to sit down and come up with some compromises to help move the bill along...Republicans refused and/or ignored any attempt at compromise every single time.

I am trying to keep it simple, the best way to not get sidetracked into the weeds. However, allow me to offer an example.

Let's say I (Person A) earn a living and am a net payer of taxes. And then you have a welfare recipient (Person B) who doesn't work, or pay taxes. Person B is a drug addict that contracts HIV, requiring expensive drugs for the rest of their lives, and is on 100% medicaid to cover that, at the expense of the tax payer. Now explain to me, I don't know this person, I didn't contribute to their habbits, nor did I have any control over what they put in their body. So why am I indebted to them for their health care, and poor choices?

Perhaps you don't realize that you pay for them whther you like it or not. Emergency room care is not free or cheap.

Personally, I don't measure by the number of addicts. I measure by the improved health of the people. A concept that is as foreign to a capitalist as patriotism.

If my neighbor is healthy and educated .. the whole country benefits.
