We are more divided today, than before Obama...

Back in May Rep. Arthur Davis switched parties from Democrat, to Republican, and appeared on Cuvuto to explain why...Here are some excerpts...

Rep. Davis said:
For a variety of reasons, I can only speak for myself, but I worked hard for Barack Obama four years ago because I thought he would bring this country together, and I thought he would change the way we talk to each other as Americans, and I thought he would change the way that we see ourselves. Well, there are many virtues around the president. I have a great deal of respect for the president. But that's not the country the president has given us.

snip

Well, it became very clear in 2009 and 2010, Neil, that the agenda of the Democratic Party was frankly not the agenda that I thought I would see. I may be a minority in this regard, but I'm one of the people who supported Barack Obama because I thought that he was in the center. I thought that he was someone who might be running to the left in the primaries to win the nomination. I got that. But I believed him when he said he wanted to turn the page. I thought that he was going to be a pro-growth president. I thought that his focus at all times was going to be national unity and bringing the country together, and I saw an enormous amount of potential.

What did we see? We saw a very different path. 2009 and 2010, we saw the Democratic Party decide that for the first time in our country's history, it was going to push through a major piece of domestic legislation that over 50 percent of the country opposed. Better known as ObamaCare, the Affordable Care Act. And so many times in 2009 and 2010, I heard people in the Democratic Party say, 'Oh, we know this is unpopular. We know people don't support this. But sometimes politicians just have to do that.' Well, the reality is our presidents in the past have felt it was important to bring us together and to try to build a consensus and to reach across party lines. I didn't see that effort. I voted against ObamaCare.

In his election campaign of 2008 Obama had lofty rhetoric of uniting the country to move past racial, class, and socio-economic divisions...This was a lie. Since taking office he has pitted one group against another, rich v. poor, black/brown v. white, CEO v. worker...etc..

We see the effects of that even in here. Following are some of the postings of liberals on the board in response to seemingly topic orientated postings by Conservatives.

Obviously that is just a sample, there are worse, and more posters using this tactic...All I can say is what the hell is the matter with you people?

Now, to be fair there are conservatives that have used these name calling tactics as well, but in my experience, usually after they are goaded into it, myself included...

It is sad really....So that is what I have to say, so let the libs all start in with their BS name calling, that they would only say on the net, and never in person.

Peace.

They'll just call him an Uncle Tom / Token Black and that'll be the end of it.

yeah, you're probably right...I remember the debate between Michael Steele, and Ellen Saurbrey when Steele was pelted with Oreo cookies in Baltimore.

Surely you can't be suggesting that conservatives are any worse at name-calling and rancor that are "liberals." Surely, surely that can't be your argument.

Equally confusing is that you seem to be suggesting the divide we see in this country can somehow be blamed on Obama and "liberals."

These are all partisan statements .. the REAL genesis of the divide we see.

Not at all, and I think I said as much...

It sure is today now isn't it? Obama said he was going to heal this divide, yet he consistently makes it worse.

It isn't a partisan statement when you (not you per se, but rather rhetorically) resort to calling people morons, idiots, or suggesting the size of their genitals like some elementary school kid...That is just plain trying to be insulting for the purpose of deflecting that you have no argument.

Look, you want to be a Socialist fine, at least you are up front about it. We can disagree and still have a conversation. But when someone wants to be liberal and denigrate others because they disagree with the ideology you hold, then that is just plain stupid, and immature, would you agree?

For 100 years health care has been a topic. Goes back to 1912. We've heard the free market would fix it. The invisible hand would look after it. Don't worry, capitalism is the answer. 100 years later and folks wonder why Obama decided on ObamaCare? Do you really think he jumped the gun on that one? Should they have talked just a little bit longer? Another 10 years? 20 years?

The thread isn't about Obamacare, hack......try again.

You clap at the post, yet you are the epitome of what I am talking about....

Did you forget this post?

that was the entire post...What did that accomplish in your mind?

Well, apparently it proves your complete lack of reading comprehension skills.
Most people would find the meaning pretty clear.

What you seem to be missing is that you are completely unqualified for this forum. Posters here, with a few notable exceptions, are educated or at the least, of above average intelligence. Since there is nothing you can do to change your status, I suggest you return to the four wheel drive forums. Here you will never be anything other than a laughing stock.

Hey Blabo, I see you met your standin for when you are too drunk to post. Only problem is, he is even dumber than you.

Poor Blabo

Not at all, and I think I said as much...

Then I don't understand why you wouldn't expect it.

It sure is today now isn't it? Obama said he was going to heal this divide, yet he consistently makes it worse.

Tell me you didn't believe that crap about "healing this nation." I didn't. Nor do I believe most of the non-sensical crap that comes out of the mouths of American politicians on both sides.

It isn't a partisan statement when you (not you per se, but rather rhetorically) resort to calling people morons, idiots, or suggesting the size of their genitals like some elementary school kid...That is just plain trying to be insulting for the purpose of deflecting that you have no argument.

It is a partisan statement unless you point out the rancor that comes from the right just as you point out what comes from the left.

Do you?

If you do then it isn't partisan .. but ONLY if you point it out on both sides.

Look, you want to be a Socialist fine, at least you are up front about it. We can disagree and still have a conversation. But when someone wants to be liberal and denigrate others because they disagree with the ideology you hold, then that is just plain stupid, and immature, would you agree?

Being socialist smarter. So yes and absolutely, I want to be socialist.

I've probably spent as much time on message boards as anyone here. That craps comes from both sides .. with a bit more vitriol coming from your side.

More time is devoted to rancor than to issues .. and arguing about which side of the Titanic to sit on is sexier than critical thinking.

It sure is today now isn't it? Obama said he was going to heal this divide, yet he consistently makes it worse.

Oh please!

You mean all those times Obama tried to reach across the aisle and had his hand bitten or slapped by partisan Righties was HIS fault?

He made it worse? Even though it was partisan Republicans who voted in lockstep against virtually every single proposal Obama put forth?

Racist Righties displaying posters of Obama made up to look like a witch doctor or a Muslim or even Hitler is Obama making things worse?

Take a gander at my sig line...each and everyone is a quote from a "tolerant" conservative who sure seems intent on "healing the divide in this country", so before you go blaming Obama for the divide in this country, maybe you should stop and address the outright racism directed at him since day 1.

Then I don't understand why you wouldn't expect it.

Well, the other forums I participated in, half of these people would have been banned already..But I understand that some forums may be a little more lax when it comes to blatant personal attack.

Tell me you didn't believe that crap about "healing this nation." I didn't. Nor do I believe most of the non-sensical crap that comes out of the mouths of American politicians on both sides.

Well, isn't that convenient...Even having no side, is choosing sir or madam.

It is a partisan statement unless you point out the rancor that comes from the right just as you point out what comes from the left.

Do you?

If you do then it isn't partisan .. but ONLY if you point it out on both sides.

Already answered.

I think you forgot "is".

I've probably spent as much time on message boards as anyone here. That craps comes from both sides .. with a bit more vitriol coming from your side.

I don't think so. See I do see it coming from my ideological "side", but like I said usually after being goaded into it...I don't see a lot of conservatives starting a post with "shit fer brains"

More time is devoted to rancor than to issues .. and arguing about which side of the Titanic to sit on is sexier than critical thinking.

Ok, here's your chance to show me...What are your critical thoughts on Socialism?

We live in a society. A society has costs. Some think the costs are worthwhile, some don't. I hear Somalia is looking for a few good free marketers.
It is funny however, how often those who most loudly protest society's costs freely partake in society's benefits.

Oh please!

You mean all those times Obama tried to reach across the aisle and had his hand bitten or slapped by partisan Righties was HIS fault?

When did this occur? Because I'll tell you what I have seen. Either agree with what is his agenda or get told that elections have consequences. That to me is not reaching out. Or, coming to a budget agreement with the opposing party speaker of the house, only to come back the next morning and poison the deal. That is not reaching out.

He made it worse? Even though it was partisan Republicans who voted in lockstep against virtually every single proposal Obama put forth?

You want to talk about voting against things? How many of the dozens of budgets passed in the house, have been taken up in the Senate?

Racist Righties displaying posters of Obama made up to look like a witch doctor or a Muslim or even Hitler is Obama making things worse?

Talk about 'oh please!' You hit on the only three instances of these things, and if I am not mistaken at least two, if not all three were liberal infiltrators doing these things for a photo op, and dissemination campaign. And you bought it.

Take a gander at my sig line...each and everyone is a quote from a "tolerant" conservative who sure seems intent on "healing the divide in this country", so before you go blaming Obama for the divide in this country, maybe you should stop and address the outright racism directed at him since day 1.

Sorry, but I don't see the racism directed at Obama in those quotes...What I do see is yet another Obama supporter that get his feelings hurt when he gets back what he may have dished out...Maybe you can point out the racism?
