Well we got this week’s school shooting in the books early

Nor could Babe Ruth hit all those home runs without a bat, wasn’t the bat did it, but sure as hell made it possible

Guns also allow law abiding citizens who never commit a crime with their guns to defend themselves and their families.

It also allows them to sport hunt and feed their families or target practice.

If you want to ban guns, you best bring your lunch. It will be an all day job to kill the Second Amendment.

Of course the answer to school shootings, or shootings anywhere, is to harden the target. Have someone who can fire back.

Well, Anchovies, my point is that something is different from prior to 1990.

It’s not the availability of guns, they have been available for decades prior to 1990 when the first mass school shootings started.

Right, something is different, going to school can be life threatening, and thirty years ago we didn’t have the proliferation of guns in the society, today we go more guns out there than people, more lethal guns, and more are being produced by the hour

See you people are so obstinate you don’t listen, no where did I say anything about banning guns, I could care less if some guy wants to shoot Bambi, am looking for regulating access to guns

Regulating access to guns does not violate the Second Amendment, if it did, we would never have had any regulation of any firearm of any kind

And if more guns were the solution the US would already be the safest gun violence nation in the world because we have more guns already out there than any other developed nation, yet we still lead those nations in gun homicides/school shootings/mass shootings

That’s not true, Anchovies.

There were millions of guns owned by private citizens prior to 1990.

You know better, you are just falling for the far left, knee jerk response.

Harden the schools, have a trained adult at every school in America to fire back.

As someone has already posted, if you ban guns, you ban guns for law abiding citizens.

The criminals who use their guns illegally will always have guns.

Your post, Anchovies:

“Already have, you just can’t accept the reality, control access to guns, as I said, not rocket Science”

Controlling access to guns...if you can not access a gun, you have banned them.

Af no time did the number of guns in America outnumber the number of people in America, nor was there such a proliferation of more deadly guns

And how did arming people work out in Uvalde

Controlling access to guns is not banning guns, do I need to cite Webster to show you the difference between the word “control” and “ban”

Control, to the left, absolutely means banning guns.

The left has been trying to “control” (ban) guns for more than a century.

Given the weakness and inconsistency of existing law, not difficult, even within legal means

If not, find someone to sell you one, go online, pass the sale off as a private sale, don’t cross State borders, promise to obey relevant laws, and in many States, you are on your way. And you always have the street, put the word out among those who would know and it shouldn’t be a problem

Then if it's true that, " you always have the street", and I don't necessarily disagree, legislation won't help. Preventing things like this in the future would require confiscation.

This one ^ is beautiful, because “guns were actually brought to schools for show and tell, some were shot in physics classes, and anyone who was a Boy Scout paged through Boys Life monthly magazine admiring the Winchester and Remmington ads.” Too funny

Offers an antidotal narrative about guns in show and tell to imply there is no problem with guns in schools nor seemingly school shootings

And who in the hell ever went to school were guns were used in show and tell? or shot in physics classes?

I did. Poor anchovies, you missed out on a great childhood.

We can't have the current America and safe schools at the same time.

Those trying to have both are impeding progress.

Choose or shut up is my attitude.

The right has already chosen the current America over safe schools.

My colleagues on the left have more trouble being decisive, and it disappoints me very much.

Which weapons specifically murder "groups of children"? What types of ammo would you allow? I agree with the mental health stuff. Not sure what "support for struggling families" means. And which red flag laws? Who decides what's a "red flag"?

I would re-ban Simi-automatic weapons from sale or import into the United States. I would have ref flag laws that set criteria by law determined by judges.

Leftys have guns too. Most of them do not want to ban guns. I am the exception. There are crazy people who will blow up and do harm. We make it easy for them to do massive damage to groups of people . It is impossible to psychologically profile everybody. The part of the equation we can control is the availability of guns. We should do some work on registering people. You should have to qualify to
obtain a gun. You should pass classes and have training. Gun owners should carry insurance for the potential damage they might cause
We have a 2nd generation of children going through the trauma of school shootings. They have to practice active shooter drills. What is that doing to the kids? It is cruel. We can prevent that.
