Well we got this week’s school shooting in the books early

Ban on semi automatic weapons, which was passed by a GOP led Congress, expired in 2004, and the gun manufacturers started to promote them immediately after cashing in after 9/11. Mass production flowed thereafter, especially when Obama got elected in 2008

Access to guns was not as easy as it is today, especially given mere number of guns out there, more guns in circulation than there are Americans

How easy is it to get a gun today? If I went out today looking to buy a weapon how soon could I have it in my possession?

thanks for the info...I'll look it up...There's always been easy access to guns
for as long as I can remember....

With kids getting killed at an alarming rate I think it is beyond politeness, offering “prayers and condolences” has proven to do nothing other than kick the can down the road
Your OP was crude and rude...

Poor anchovies, pre-ban, guns were actually brought to schools for show and tell, some were shot in physics classes, and anyone who was a Boy Scout paged through Boys Life monthly magazine admiring the Winchester and Remmington ads. Your prejudice blocks your brain from functioning properly.

]

This one ^ is beautiful, because “guns were actually brought to schools for show and tell, some were shot in physics classes, and anyone who was a Boy Scout paged through Boys Life monthly magazine admiring the Winchester and Remmington ads.” Too funny

Offers an antidotal narrative about guns in show and tell to imply there is no problem with guns in schools nor seemingly school shootings

And who in the hell ever went to school were guns were used in show and tell? or shot in physics classes?

The first K-12 mass shooting of the modern era occurred in 1989 in the schoolyard at the Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California.

This started about three decades ago.

Before that, there were guns available to most people and there were no mass school shootings.

Indeed.

My friends would often bring a new rifle or shotgun to the school parking lot to show their friends.

No shots were ever fired. No school children were ever harmed by a gun.

Mentally disturbed adults and children are allowed to walk the streets and kill at will.

The left has always been against institutionalizing those with mental issues.

I blame the left.

Another one with the “show and tell,” wow, shows the depth of why it is nearly impossible to attain real reform to addresses school shootings, “bring new guns to school to show their friends,” beautiful

Given the weakness and inconsistency of existing law, not difficult, even within legal means

If not, find someone to sell you one, go online, pass the sale off as a private sale, don’t cross State borders, promise to obey relevant laws, and in many States, you are on your way. And you always have the street, put the word out among those who would know and it shouldn’t be a problem

The point went two miles over your head.

I posted that in years past, previous to about 30 years ago, guns were brought to school with no children being harmed.

Try to focus on this, Anchovies, the gun used in Nashville did not drive to that school and start firing itself.

If guns were the problem, there would have been mass school shootings prior to 2998.

Ah, “earl,” it is not when they started, but the nearly weekly escalating occurrences that seem common today, and this ain’t the 1950’s

As I’ve explained to you numerous times before, in dealing with realities, there are three common variables to all school/mass shootings; the shooter, the target, and the gun. No can predict the next shooter, and you can plan to defend the targets, but there are too many to defend them all. The only controllable variable is the gun

Ain’t rocket Science

schools are already gun free zones...........so apparently you can't control that variable at all.

What does that mean? There is another tragedy and kids getting shot at school. You are speaking NRA, not logic and common sense. Guns are part of the the problem that can be cured.

gun laws only affect the law abiding.........criminals will always be able to get a gun. the only solution to shootings is to shoot back.

Jumped on it cause it is a tragedy, a preventable tragedy, and it is one occurring at an alarming rate in what is supposed to be the most civilized nation in the world. In most other nations it is tragedy, here, as American as apple pie, other than Nashville, will probably be old news a week from now

the solution(s) you propose will do nothing to prevent those tragedies........i've given you the solution.

Well, Anchovies, my point is that something is different from prior to 1990.

It’s not the availability of guns, they have been available for decades prior to 1990 when the first mass school shootings started.

Nor could Babe Ruth hit all those home runs without a bat, wasn’t the bat did it, but sure as hell made it possible
