How could it be about slavery when

1. There were four UNION states that practiced slavery throughout the war. KY MD MO DE. Had 300,000 slaves total.

2. There were many UNION generals who were slave owners. Even Grant had a slave and his wife had a bunch of them.

3. Lincoln asked slave owner Robert E Lee to be commander of all UNION forces.

The idea that the CW was about freeing the slaves is not only wrong, it is preposterous. It's fake news the media has been feeding us for 150 years.

I didn't click on the links because I'm all out of mindbleach, but let me guess -- states rights are prominently mentioned? Funny how contards are all for states rights until a state okays something that they don't like. Like SSM, for instance. Then suddenly we need a Constitutional Amendment to stop them from doing that.

Even if the south had seceded over rainbows and unicorns, it still attacked an American fort, starting a war that claimed the lives of over 400k American troops. Every time you pay homage to the CSA, you celebrate the deaths of American troops, which is unpatriotic.

Actually every state that voted on queer marriage, voted against it. It was liberal courts that brought us that travesty. I am all for letting States vote on it. The democrat party? Not so much

Actually around 750,000 Americans died not the 400,000 Northerners you keep harping on about. Oh, and up to a million blacks died from starvation and pestilence but who cares about that? The ironic aspect to all this is that you probably support the Catalans against fascist Spain!

Yes, the shift in public opinion away from bigotry was gradual, and initially states votes for discrimination. Then that changed, and now a large majority of America has evolved and is not bigoted against gays on marriage.

What? No, that is incorrect. Several states (37) allowed SSM before the Supreme Court ruling Obergefell vs Hodges in 2015.

you need to read the articles of secession put forth by the traitor states. yes, the CW was all about slavery.
