National Student Walkout Day

The protests are the public face of our children's outrage, born of fear. As a parent myself, my own fear and outrage -- along with that of millions of other parents -- has been ignored and denigrated at the Holy Altar of the Sacred Second Amendment. It's taken the kids to get the attention of the media. These walkouts and protests get the media's attention, which is awesome, but they don't serve to do much else, except for one thing: They inspire kids to get registered to vote. As our RWNJs have fearfully pointed out -- voter registration groups are on hand to do just that. We (me and a couple of friends) did the same thing during the Occupy protests in 2011.

and it will eventually be shown that you parents were nothing but cowards and taught your kids to be cowards, afraid that they are defenseless and are incapable of defending themselves because guns are bad. they will die, you will lose, and freedom will win.

It's all been co-opted by the League of Women Voters, Rock the Vote, The Voter Participation Center and Vote.org (adults).
Hogg's pushing their rhetoric in a CBS Miami interview, I listened to a kid in Colorado pushing it, and so it goes. And, for some reason it all has to happen on school days.
Nobody but the shooter decided to murder a bunch of people at Columbine on 4/20.

Let it be known. I HATE LIBERTARIANS. Now it's official. Approved by good housekeeping. and fuck ayn rand who created the libertarian tribe.

Okay then. I have five kids. All five of them were taught how to shoot. Three of them served in the U.S. military; one of them qualified as expert marksman even though she's a markswoman. I never saw a gun myself till I was an adult and an abusive ex held his borrowed .38 to my head and said he'd blow my brains out if I talked back to him one more time. I could have cowered but I don't do that shit. I'm a gun owner-by-proxy (inherited a lil arsenal) and know how to shoot. Well.

But keep on assuming that those of us who respect both firearms and the 1st and 2nd Amendments are cowards ripe for the harvest. You could be in for a surprise.

Man, if the youth vote could actually turn out in big #'s, it would change the direction of the country in a BIG way.

The right-wing's worst nightmare.

Yep. Hence their desperate attempts to put them down as pawns and tools, rather than independent intelligent beings. Of course, their OWN kids are never pawns and tools. lol

They could. But who is to say adults would still vote the same way they do now? Watch even the more moderate Democrats switch if a Bernie Sanders type tries to take what they have.

Sorry to hear you had to go through that. I can't imagine...
