Michelle Obama's Expensive Fashion Rivals That Of Ann Romney

Don't project your smallness and Neanderthalism onto me. I'm in denial of nothing. I said you can't criticize Barack Obama, his wife, or any other standup black American objectively, you being white, without the possibility of you coming from a racist and bigoted place. Period. I didn't stutter, and that's not a racist statement, but a true statement.

Okay this is an interesting statement because I think it tracks very closely with something I have said in the past, which was; we are all racist and sexist to some degree because we are raised in a racist and sexist culture.

And guess what, Sf agreed with that.

So poet, if you don't mind my saying, and I think you will, sometimes I feel it is more the way you say things. OTOH, there are people who will react very knee-jerk no matter how you say something. They are reactionaries. Reactionaries are going to react.

I give as good as I get. I'm fine, though.

This whole thread boggles my mind. Recall when Obama first took office, Michelle was wearing clothes from J. Crew and other moderately-priced shops, and the righties slammed her for that, saying she was too casual and her clothes weren't befitting her position. Then she wears something "designer" and gets slammed for being above herself and out of touch with the average woman. It's damned if you do, damned if you don't.

cite your first claim and cite (besides WW) who has slammed michelle for her clothes.

Being racially aware is not in or of itself "racist". There is a lot of history that you don't seem to understand. I have no clue as to how to solve that dilemma FOR you. Your attitude is what is genuinely "sad and quite pathetic". You appear to have problems with qualified statements. The problem with that is the statement is still on the board and is qualified to the satisfaction of those actually interested in whether or not it is indeed racist. It is NOT racist.

claiming a white person who compiles stats about blacks are inaccurate solely because the person is white, is racist. claiming a white person cannot criticize obama because he is black is racist.

Well i have a long and storied history that I won't get into here, but I am pretty much a ph.d in black studies by way of having slept with a pd.d in black studies, so I feel that I can, yes.

And you? Have you slept with a ph.d in black studies?

lol

what if you just date a black person...does that count?

A "racist comment" from your point of view, perhaps, but the God's honest truth. Something true cannot be racist. By definition. Are you stupid or what? If you say all black people are underachievers and incapable of competing with white people. That's a racist statement, because it's not true. There are plenty of black people that are smarter than plenty of white people and have great achievement. If you said, black people, as a whole, have "struggled" in America. That's not a racist statement, because it's true.
If you said, all Mexicans eat only Mexican food....that's a racist statement, because it's not true. Do you sort of "get it", now?
I tried to explain it all to you, but, evidently, not all white people are the same. Not all white people can grasp elementary concepts. Not all white people can elevate their thought to enlightenment. And those aren't racist statements, because it's true.

There has been no other black president to compare President Obama and his family to. He is the first. So any criticism of him, must have a racial component to it, because of who and what he is.... a black man. You can't get around it. I asked you, numerous times for proof of white objectivity, and you ignored my request. I understand why. You can't provide it, because what is actually in a man's mind, is unknown. And unless he is telling the truth, it cannot be ascertained. Are you picking up on my debate skills? I'm providing point and counterpoint. You're providing protest and outrage, with nothing to back it up.
Who am I to judge? Well, let's see. I'm black and Barack Obama is black (for all practical purposes) and Michelle is definitely black. And you're white. Questions?

Dear poet... If you don't wish to engage me, that is your choice. You can play the role of petulant child. You pretend you are innocent, yet you are not. Yes, you had two people proclaim that you weren't being racist. Because someone who paints an entire race as racist can't possibly be racist.

1) White people most certainly can be objective about Obama, no matter how many times you cry about it, that will not change. This does not mean ALL criticisms are objective. It means that white people can be just as objective as you.

2) Your comment is racist. Period. No matter how much you pretend otherwise.

3) You continue to call me dishonest... yet you cannot provide one example to justify that rude comment. You proclaim you want to be civil, yet you consistently attack others and then fall back on your race/sexual orientation when they respond to you. You are a bitter old man.

4) do you need a tissue to wipe your tears?

This message is hidden because Poet is a racist, women abusing, asshole.

Pure comedy. I swear I have never seen an ego quite like poet's.

But it's not an EGO, it is a shining example of low self-esteem; because of his need to constantly MAKE himself appear to be someone and something.
It goes hand in hand with his need to constantly "reveal" things about himself.

Bill Maher Gut Punches the Right by Exposing Their Racial Anti-Obama Motivation
By: Jason EasleyMay 5, 2012see more posts by Jason Easley

On his HBO show Bill Maher explained the right’s desperate need to beat Obama in 2012, and why a second Obama term is more important for African-Americans than his first.

Maher said, “Obama obviously against Romney. I think the second term for Obama is even more important than the first term. If the first black president only has one term, America reads that as a failure. This is what the right wing hopes and prays for more than anything else. America looks at this one-term president and goes, ‘We tried a black guy, but it just didn’t work.’ And I think Obama is aware of that. That’s why I think he is so conservative in the first term. He knows for the sake of black America he needs a second term.”

It is a sad reality, but Bill Maher has a point. Obama’s critics still claim to this day that the novelty factor is the only reason that he won in 2008. While it’s true that all presidents seek validation by winning a second term, but President Obama is carrying a heavier burden. This president’s reelection campaign may very well validate the idea that an African-American can be a successful president.

It is astounding that as a nation, the United States is in a position where the validity of the concept of electing minorities to the highest office in the land is up for debate, but this is where a loud and vocal segment of the right has chosen to make their last stand. Make no mistake about it, 2012 is their last stand. Republicans understand that their behavior and positions on African-Americans, Hispanics, and women will make very difficult for the party to win a presidential election if Barack Obama wins in 2012.

There will be no “novelty” excuse for the right if Obama wins reelection. If Obama is able to win a second term powered by a coalition of young voters, African-Americans, women, Hispanics, and other minorities, it will signal the official demise of the small tent angry white man Republican Party. The nomination of Mitt Romney makes perfect sense when viewed from this perspective. Romney is the walking, talking, living, breathing embodiment of angry conservative white male privilege.

Obama’s first victory was historic, but his second victory will change the way our nation views presidential candidates. The door won’t be kicked open for all minorities. It is a travesty that this nation has not yet elected a female president, but a secret unspoken bias will be shattered with an Obama win in 2012. After eight years of Obama’s leadership, there would never again be nothing unusual about African-American president.

Maher was correct. A second Obama victory is more important than the first. President Obama himself represents a form of progress that the right is desperate to stop. If Obama wins reelection that progress will not be denied, and the privileged white male will forever have to share his formerly exclusive lease on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with everyone else, and as Bill Maher put it this is what the right is hoping and praying does not happen.
