No I did not moron. You stated that the majority of christian churches teach women should be subservient. I dispelled that notion on the simple grounds that the Catholic Church does not teach as you stated, yet is well over half of all Christians. Thus your point was invalid.

You then proclaimed that I was wrong and that women couldn't be priests and therefore the Catholic church taught women to be subservient. I explained why you were wrong. I explained to you what the Catholic church ACTUALLY TEACHES.... and you ignored it. I have not changed the subject at all. I have addressed your complete ignorance regarding Catholics and your complete ignorance in what the church teaches them.

The Church emphatically preaches that MEN AND WOMEN ARE EQUALS IN MARRIAGE.... WHAT FUCKING PART OF THAT ARE YOU TOO FUCKING IGNORANT TO UNDERSTAND? Even a simpleton like you should be able to comprehend it. Instead you cling to bashing Catholics because it makes you feel special to bash them.

I have been a member of the organization and your recall of the the Catholic church and mine are quite different. They teach one thing, but in application, it is greatly lacking. It is one of the many reasons I left the church. IT is one of the reasons I can not find a church to my liking, too much of a feminist. Birth control was a HUGE issue with me.

Outside of women not being allowed to be Priests, what applications are they taking that suggest women should be subservient to men?

Do the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL all promote women being subservient in your opinion Jarod? Women aren't allowed to join those leagues either Jarod. By your idiocy that MUST mean they promote women being subservient.

The NFL, the NBA the MLB and the NHL allow women to be and have women in leadership positions within the orginization. None of them have rules against women playing for them, if they can meet the same skill and ability requirements. If I remember correctly the NHL had a woman play golie for a while.

They do not allow them to play, which are the highest paid positions. Clearly they all think women are subservient.
 
It is a shame the vast majority of lawyers are liars who enjoy relishing in their own bigotry. I can't believe that is what the majority of law schools teach them.

I am glad to hear that my sentiment was the least christian that has ever been expressed, but I never call myself a christian... you got that part wrong. I am a spiritualist, not a christian. I believe in much of what is in the Bible, and many of the things Christians believe in as God, I can relate to in spirituality, but I part with Christians on several things, mainly, the attempts to give God human attributes like 'caring' or 'loving' when God is omnipotent and has no need for human emotion or attribute. People are all different in their beliefs, including Catholics.

I like to pick on Catholics because I realize how much it tweaks their melons to be told they aren't Christians. Look at SF... he blew up the thread posting to me after that one! I loved it! Nothing like stirring the pot! The Protestant Reformation, and the assorted other Reformations which occurred throughout the middle ages, gave rise to numerous branches of Christianity.. you mentioned Southern Baptists... they alone, have over 150 denominations. There are many denominations of Catholics, and they all have different beliefs, things that make them distinct in their denomination, which set them apart from each other. Speaking from a neutral spiritual position without favor toward any particular religious belief, it seems the Catholics worship tradition and ritual, and Protestants worship spirit. Now it gets really deep, the differences between Catholicism and Protestant Christianity, and with varying degrees and through hundreds of denominations, it is clearly difficult to compare or debate the two, or speak in any sort of general terms. Therefore, this becomes a pointless debate, which makes it even more fun to throw out there, that Catholics aren't really Christians.

Oddly enough, the thing which separates the numerous Rites (Roman, Byzantine, Marianite, Coptic, a small smattering of others, and possibly a future Tridentine Rite will come about if the Church allows) is tradition, which Dixie claims is what Catholics worship. The Roman Rite has its Western/Latin tradition, the Byzantine has its Eastern/Greek tradition, the Coptic has its Middle East tradition, and so forth.

What makes each of the Rites Catholic is the centrality of the Eucharist to their faith, and the universality (which means "Catholic," btw) of their churches under Papal authority.

It varies from diocese to diocese and priest to priest. One priest did not want alter girls, another did not want women readers. Another told me in confession that I was to submit to my husband's will. The other is the attitude towards birth control. I understand the churches position on abortion, but birth control, come on, that is backwards. They speak of equality, but like I stated it is an underlying current in the church. The council is another place where men have more voice than do women. I am sure there are parishes where they are more progressive, but my experience here in Alaska was that women are to be seen and not heard and only seen when they are in their proper places. Here in Alaska a great many nuns are taking the positions that priest once occupied because of the shortage of priests. People still don't take to them and want priests. It is just an underlying attitude that women aren't men.

Oh, it was definitely said tongue in cheek, sorry you didn't catch that. But it was really fun to watch you... someone who usually chooses to take an 'agnostic' stand on most anything religious, defending Catholicism to the hilt... The Pope would be proud.
