Fellow Christians, what does this passage mean to you?

Catholics are followers of the Roman Catholic Church, not Jesus Christ. Catholicism is NOT Christianity.

Catholics CAN be Christians, it depends on whether they accept Jesus Christ as the son of God. However, the Catholic religion itself, is NOT Christianity.

That is 100% false you dolt. Catholics are 100% Christians. It is pure nonsense to claim otherwise.

I don't want to get into a deep theological argument with you on this, because that is precisely why I said earlier, Catholics aren't Christians. There are indeed connections to Christianity in both Catholicism and Unitarianism, and they are considered Christian theologies. Whether that is technically right or wrong has nothing to do with whether Islam treats women in the same regard as Christianity. Let's not derail the thread into what appears to be a difference of interpretation on what does or doesn't constitute true Christianity. ...It's eating your own.

You are 100% wrong. Catholics ARE Christians. Every subset of Christianity is derived from Catholicism. Catholics ARE followers of the Roman Catholic Church as you stated as they believe that it is the one true church of Christ. At no time do they teach nor believe that Christ isn't the son of God.

Where ever you got that nonsense from is beyond me. Jarod had the 'I am an idiot' title all locked up until you came along with that gem.

Sorry, I didn't think I said something stupid, Catholics aren't Christians the same way Unitarians aren't, although they are both considered Christian-based theology. Jews are also not Christians. That's not "stupid" to say, it's the actual truth. If you disagree with me, that's your prerogative, but there is no need in calling me names here. More often than not, we are on the same side, and this thread conversation was about Sharia, Islam, and how they are nothing at all like Christianity in their treatment of women. Either you have something to add to that, or you don't, I don't need a debate with you over what is or isn't considered a 'Christian' in your mind.

Except that it IS NOT THE ACTUAL 'TRUTH'. It is 100% a LIE. It is one of the most ignorant things you have ever said. It tops your stupidity on 1/3.

I understand a great deal about the history of the Roman Catholic Church. I realize at one time, ALL Christians were Catholic, in fact, that is a word which directly relates to that fact, Catholicism is the original Christian faith. However, for nearly a century, there were massive reform movements, and Christianity, particularly, Protestant Christianity came of age. I made a rather bold and bombastic comment that Catholics aren't Christians, because in light of what Protestant Christians believe, they aren't. I do realize this is cause for great discountenance to many a Catholic, but there is a fundamental principle of Christian faith that can't be rectified, Catholics hold most sacred, the Papal Roman See.. (The Pope), The Holy Roman Church, and the Blessed Mother Mary. Christians hold most sacred, Jesus Christ, the living Son of God. Christians are given salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ, Catholics are given salvation through confessionals and following rituals and traditional customs. Christianity teaches the only way to salvation is through Christ, not through a confessional window. Redemption comes through confessing your sins to God through Jesus, not through a Priest. So you see, there are distinct differences between Catholic faith and Protestant Christian faith, Catholics are not Christians.

You truly are an idiot. While Catholics do indeed hold sacred the papacy, the church and the Holy Mother, NONE of them are held more sacred to a Catholic than Christ you fucking idiot. You don't understand ANYTHING about Catholics if you believe otherwise. I was raised a Catholic and can say with 100% certainty you are out of your fucking mind.

I may have been wrong when I said the majority do it, I do not know the percentage. I know a lot do.

Yes, you are indeed wrong. That is a fact. The Catholic Church alone is well over half of all Christians and they FOR A FACT do not teach subservience of women.

I disagree, they do indeed teach the subservience of women, simply by the set up of the hiarachy of the church they teach that. A priest is "father" there is not equal roll for a woman in leadership of the church.

You are a fucking idiot. I explained to you why the Church only allows men to be Priests. You then proceeded to completely ignore that response despite asking for it 100 times.

The Catholic church teaches that men and women are equal in terms of their relative positions to each other (especially in a marriage). The Catholic church believes that because Christ chose 12 apostles (ALL MEN) that it was Christ's intention that the position be held by men. It is that tradition that they uphold. It has nothing to do with saying 'women are subservient' you fucking idiot.

That well may be the reason, but what that tradition teaches the parisoners is that only men are to be in leadership positions in the Family.

Jarod, you clearly have never been a Catholic. That tradition does not teach anything of the sort. It states that church will hold to the traditions Christ established with regards to the Priesthood. It has NOTHING to do with mens role in a family. Nothing. When it comes to family, the Church actively teaches that men and women are EQUAL within the marriage. It is taught in their marriage classes, it is taught in the sermons after the gospels.

You are just as fucking ignorant on what a Catholic is and what the Catholic Church teaches as ditzie.

I disagree and I know many former and current Catholics who disagree. Not allowing women to have leadership in the church teaches a sad message to women.

You are full of shit Jarod. anyone who actually believes that is NOT listening to what the Church is actually teaching them. You are just becoming more and more desperate because your original point is blowing up in your face. If the Church says 'men and women are equals in marriage' and your 'friends' turn around and say the church believes women should be subservient, then your 'friends' are full of shit.

The Catholics may say one thing, they practice quite another....

You are a fucking idiot. Period. You just want to bash Catholics. Period. You are completely ignorant on what they preach and on what they practice. You just want to continue bashing them, because you are a fucking idiot and you think it makes you look 'cool'.

The group does not have an oppositionm to the concept of "Trinity" they are open to the unity concept, but not opposed to the Trinity concept.

oh good grief.....this is getting ridiculous.....how is it you claim a history with Unitarians when you haven't got a clue what it is they teach?.......the only reason there IS a Unitarian church is that they were opposed to the concept of "Trinity".........

"Can one be both Catholic and feminist? Many of us these days are asking the question, sometimes with considerable anguish. The real question, however, is why is this a question at all. Why do so many of us see the relations between Catholicism and feminists as problematic?

Until we can answer this, we will find it difficult to think constructively about the prior question of whether it is possible simultaneously to be both Catholic and feminist. Many of us, I suspect, think the answer to this question should be "yes," if only because we believe ourselves to be both. But knowing that others perceive irreconcilable conflicts between Catholicism and feminism, even the most optimistic of us is likely to pause. For we do know that even if we hope to reconcile the claims of Catholicism and feminism within our own beliefs and lives, most Catholics and most feminists would insist that such reconciliation is difficult if not impossible."

tell that to the Mother Theresa.....

Let me guess, now you are trying to desperately switch topics so that you can bash Catholics some more Jarod? Why do you hate Catholics so much Jarod? Do you think it makes you cool to bash them?

True, historically they were not belivers in the concept of a trinity, in the present however they do not take a position on the concept and accept that believers of both concepts can be full members of the religen. They do not deny the divinity of Christ.

You changed the subject not me. I am not the one saying Catholics are not Christians. You said that they treat women as equals and I disagreed. YOU DID EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE SAYING I DID, You changed the subject.
