Masks work. It is just that easy. They are not 100 percent effective and less so when worn badly. The science is there, they do work.

Hello Nordberg,

Masks work. It is just that easy. They are not 100 percent effective and less so when worn badly. The science is there, they do work.

I can certainly understand why the CDC did what it did and when it did it, considering how dumb the American public is. First they held back on saying to wear masks. That made a lot of sense, once again considering how dumb the American public is. The reason was so that the masks which were available could be used by the front line workers. If everyone rushed out and snapped up masks like they did toilet paper there would be no masks for nurses handling COVID patients in the early days of the pandemic. Remember the early supply issues.

Then, as the disease was spreading rapidly, and the mask supply for health care workers was assured, but there were still not enough for the general public, it was realized that if no better masks were available, that cloth masks would at least help a little, better than nothing. So the word was put out to make your own mask if you can't get a better one.

But then the dumb American public learned that cloth masks are more comfortable, so they did not seek to get better masks even when surgical and N95 became widely available. And many transmission events occurred because people were hooked on the habit of wearing less effective cloth masks.

The CDC did say that N95 masks were the most effective at 95% effectiveness. Surgical masks are next at about 45%. Cloth masks are only about 5% effective.

Naturally, all those facts were highly distorted by the right wing propaganda machine. That got turned into 'masks don't work.'

The result being endless foolish voices repeating 'masks don't work' without ever learning, caring about, or sharing the actual facts.

It is no wonder the CDC acted as they did at the times that they did. The general public is not only dumb, but so easily led by greedy talk pundits, it is impossible to get everyone doing the right things at the right times nor understanding why.

Hello moon,

A million dead Americans by the end of the week then- and 800 billion dollars to the Pentagon.

El-Trumpo-virus.jpg

If it doesn't happen this week, then next week is highly probable.

It appears inevitable that we will reach that ominous milestone soon in this counting system.

Since these are only documented cases, and there are certainly more, it is likely that the one million dead Americans figure has actually already passed.

The gruesome twosome doing some more grim reaping.

Numbers in Germany and much of Europe are shooting back up again.

The culprit is a new subvariant of Omicron called BA.2

It is not known if this will cause a new wave in America.

What to know about BA.2, the newest Covid omicron variant

"It's called the "stealth" variant, but there's nothing particularly stealthy about it. Researchers are working to parse whether it is a new threat.

As coronavirus case numbers in the U.S. show early signs of tapering, scientists are keeping a watchful eye on a newly identified version of the omicron variant, nicknamed "stealth omicron," that is driving new outbreaks in parts of Europe.

The culprit is a "subvariant" of the omicron variant, which means it's closely related to omicron but has some different mutations. Known officially as BA.2, the subtype has small variations that set it apart from the original omicron strain but not enough for it to be considered an entirely new lineage."

I bet you're going to miss Covid, what you going to do to fill the void?

That is how science works. You hear something is happening and then you investigate. it takes a while to research. I see your post shows how as more info was collected The CDC acted on that new information. Yes that is the right way to handle it. I agree with that post.

The variants will continue just like there are new variants of other viruses. Evolution in action.

Also part of Evolution in action are dumbasses who think it's a fake virus. Fine. Treat them but if a hospital becomes overburdened with infected antivaxxers to the point other people are suffering for lack of medical attention then move the antivaxxers into Trump Tents...next to the morgue truck:

There are some pretty encouraging notable figures in the latest data.

Active Cases slipped below 24 Million. Right on, we like that!

Only a few hundred new deaths. Just over 4K in ICU's with COVID.

And only 17K new cases.

We LOVE seeing the number of New Recovered far outstripping the number of New Cases. THAT is taking things in a very promising direction.

It brings a smile to think about having the data finally support optimism in getting back to normal lives and a more normal economy.

True, but as the wise man said, "You can't fix stupid".

xD1sSUv.jpg

Fixes it only on an individual case after procreation has occurred. The Darwin rule is subverted.

But we can be hopeful that stupid is not always passed from one generation to the next.

How many young people are likely to follow in parents footsteps when they realize stupid means dying for BS?

Still, it's one thing to scream "Fake virus!" and "no worse than the flu!" and another to bury your friends and relatives who are stupid.

Let's not forget, that "stupid is forevah!" so they'll keep attriting themselves in other ways to such as no flu shots, don't wear seatbelts or motorcycle helmets. The Darwin Awards are full of stupid people doing their part to clean out the gene pool. COVID is just the most recent means God is helping mankind get rid of idiots.

We gotta keep up the good work.

America really paid a huge price for the way we were not united on the pandemic.

I just did a little shocking math.

The Deaths per Million figure is 2965.

1,000,000 / 2965 = 338.

That means one out of every 338 Americans have died in the pandemic.

It didn't have to be that high.

We have got to get more united.
