France and Germany are back into lockdown. The UK is stupid enough to issue projected ' all clear' - dates. They'll get hit by another wave for certain. If the entire world locked down for the rest of the year we'd be in with a chance. Intercontinental travel should be totally out of the question. There are already several deadly new strains waiting for a lift.

We've got to get most of America vaccinated, a challenge in itself due to the large number of Republicans who are reluctant to make that commitment, and then we have to get the rest of the world vaccinated, an even more daunting task given the sheer size of the challenge.

It's too soon to count any chickens, and I don't think Trump had much to do with what happened in America as far as major Big Pharma corporations seizing an opportunity to profit heavily - which is precisely what they are doing from this crisis, never letting a good crisis go to waste is the nefarious capitalist and political motto.

We had 55,000 new cases yesterday.
That represents at least 55,000 people who were not able to avoid sharing air with others, when they now wish they could have. And many more also shared air, and they only got away with it because of sheer luck. If that was due to recklessness, one has to wonder how long such luck might hold out, especially considering the new more transmissible strains.
The last thing we would need right now, and I almost hesitate to even say such a thing, would be for a new strain to pop up which is a more deadly strain, more transmissible, and unaffected by any of the vaccines.
We are in a worldwide race to eliminate this virus before such a thing can occur.
Humanity is still at war with a bug; the war is not over, and the outcome is unclear.
