Corona Virus Peak Watch Thread

Well there we go.

400,000 dead.

It did not just miraculously go away one day when the weather got warm.

What's going away is President Trump.

Thank you, America.

2 million documented deaths from COVID-19 in the world.

400K of them are in the USA.

We can only speculate as to what the actual figures are.

COVID-19 is the number one cause of death in the USA.

Active Cases reached a high point on Monday 1-18.

We will monitor the numbers to see if that becomes a peak.

We do have another good indication in the number of Serious and Critical Cases, which is a leading indicator of deaths.

That reached a high point on 1-5 of 29,771.

It has been fluctuating up and down, but overall appears to be tapering off, currently 28,198.

We cautiously hope that will continue to be reduced.

We did have over 4000 deaths again yesterday, but the high figure for daily deaths so far was set on 1-12, which appears to be just under 4500 per the following graph:

It should be noted that worldometers adjusts their past figures as new information is received, so there can be discrepancies between what is recorded here in past posts of this thread (which is generally done on the following day after each day's initial figures become available,) and what is currently shown on worldometers.

Active Cases are flirting with reaching 10 million. Yesterday's total nearly topped the previous high figure.

Can we get control of this?

Can we actually see the peak soon?

Have we already seen it?

Hello moon,

Any infection data pertaining to demographics/social strata/employment available ?

That is done on State websites. Some are better than others. Some have nothing. The worldometer site does not have demogtraphics, but they do have some additional graphs here.
