Sooooo, the Black Death in Europe was inconvenient for business and people should have just gotten over it?

https://www.history.com/topics/middle-ages/black-death
The Black Death was a devastating global epidemic of bubonic plague that struck Europe and Asia in the mid-1300s. The plague arrived in Europe in October 1347, when 12 ships from the Black Sea docked at the Sicilian port of Messina. People gathered on the docks were met with a horrifying surprise: Most sailors aboard the ships were dead, and those still alive were gravely ill and covered in black boils that oozed blood and pus. Sicilian authorities hastily ordered the fleet of “death ships” out of the harbor, but it was too late: Over the next five years, the Black Death would kill more than 20 million people in Europe—almost one-third of the continent’s population.

I did. You're not required to read it or agree with it. The fact remains blaming the impact of a global pandemic on "victim culture" is baseless.

The fragility of humans which has been long promoted by the Victim Culture Cult is a huge part of why we fucked up this pandemic so deeply.

People promote all kinds of silly ideas. If you want to fall for the "Victim Culture" bullshit, that's your choice. I doubt many mature, intelligent adults agree with you. They know, like you should know, that we're all going to die one day, but prefer our government take action to delay that day. Disagreed that Trump pushed the Victim Culture even though he plays the Victim quite often.

People are deeply ignorant cowards for the most part now, exactly what the Victim Culture Cult wanted and promotes constantly.

Bad leadership, yes. But he did bring back Big Ten football. Priorities!

Woot! Goooo Wildcats! Last year they were 1-8, bottom of the Big Ten!

Our ancestors lived through pandemics all the time, they learned what to do, we should have listened but this is the age of the Modern Moron they who have spent their lives steeped in Victim Culture, they who were never taught how to think on their own because power does not want that.

You do not think your way through a disease. You separate, you mask. You distance. That is exactly what this mysterious power wants you to do.

Hello Darth,

Approximately one third to one half of which wouldn’t survive the next 13 months, regardless.

This is NOT the Plague.

Pretty insensitive.

People who lose loved ones don't think of it under those terms.

Is it an attempt to rationalize not caring about lives getting cut short?

Our prez has talked about this being the worst week of the pandemic for the USA.

We know better than to just believe everything he says, so let's try to find some real answers.

Here is a site with up to date statistics:

Worldometer

We can scroll down and see the US statistics for ACTIVE CASES and NEW DEATHS.

These are the figures which will tell us when we have reached 2 important peaks in the pandemic.

When people test positive, that data is added to the ACTIVE CASES.

When people either die or recover, they are removed from the ACTIVE CASES.

NEW DEATHS is the deaths per day for that day.

We will first see a peak in the ACTIVE CASES, followed by the peak in the NEW DEATHS.

That means we can watch these numbers change and know when we have reached those peaks.

Currently, the figures are:

ACTIVE CASES 420,611.

NEW DEATHS 1,656.

Let's try to post the daily numbers so we can watch the trends and we will know when the peaks have been reached for the entire USA.

Sad how incredibly wrong he was.

Hello Jarod,

Sad how incredibly wrong he was.

Well I was wrong, too.

I believed there would first be a peak in Active Cases, followed by a peak in New Deaths.

We've already had a peak in New Deaths, but Active Cases have not, have essentially leveled off. We won't know if we are at a peak until it either starts going back up, or finally begins to drop.

One good thing is that for now the curve has been flattened. Hospitals are able to keep up with the case load, mostly. Wherever the hot spots are, the hospitals either get close or reach capacity, but that doesn't usually last long and within weeks are able to improve reserve capacity. (Often by creating more.)

I never would have guessed that in October we would still be looking for the peak in Active Cases.

That's the problem with ignoring problems; they never just go away. Look for the double whammy of flu season and a COVID outbreak.

The good news is that if Trump is hammered hard by his infection, it will give people the incentive to take precautions. Think about it; Trump being crippled by COVID-19 may be the best thing he's done to help this nation weather the Pandemic without resorting to Authoritarian Mandates.

Oh of course, no doubt that tosses his whole campaign on it's heels. Everything cancelled, no appearances. And wow. No tweets all day! We have to wonder how long that is going to last.

Trump is being readied for air transport to Walter Reed.
