Speculation but certainly any sane response would have reduced the fatality rate as demonstrated around the world.

History, no doubt, will attribute this to a failed reaction to the pandemic by national leaders. Trump will figure prominently in that history of deaths and economic loss, but he's not alone.

The number of Active Cases has leveled off, but it's too soon to determine if this is a peak or another 'shelf.' We have seen a leveling before, but then after the holidays the numbers took off again. Even with the numbers down a bit we still had over 30,000 new cases yesterday on a Sunday which is usually the lowest numbers of each week.
Time will tell.
It is possible we just saw a peak, but I am not very optimistic due to the number of recalcitrant people who are blowing off all the precautions, and the poorly planned forced back-to-school decisions.
