Corona Virus Peak Watch Thread

If we thought young adults going to bars was bad, I shudder to think what sending kinds back to school is going to be like.

Problematic: Children can carry 5-6 times the viral load and still not be symptomatic.

But quite contagious.

If things continue at the current rate we will be over 200,000 dead in September.

If things get worse because we irresponsibly went back to school (with bad results,) we could see over a 1/4 million dead Americans from mishandling the crisis before Election Day.

1.5% of America has or has had COVID-19.

Some of that came from sheer stupidity.

98.5% of America has been smart, lucky, or both.

Here's a grim update:

Coronavirus updates: Los Angeles County tops 200K cases; Arizona prison outbreak spurs backlash; Georgia boy, 7, is state's youngest victim

Meanwhile, a widely cited model predicts U.S. deaths from COVID-19 will reach nearly 300,000 by Dec. 1, even with the assumption that many states will impose new stay-at-home orders as deaths climb.

Hello Trumpet,

How absurd is this:

"The U.S. State Department no longer says Americans should avoid all international travel due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the list of countries welcoming people from the U.S. is still slim.

The agency said travel advisories will now be issued on a country-by-country basis as conditions internationally improve or worsen. "

They should be issuing warnings to the nations Americans decide to travel TO.

We are the world's hot spot.

A little goof by USA Today - I think they need to check their numbers:

"Today's numbers: The U.S. has recorded more than 19,000 deaths and 4.8 million cases of COVID-19, according to Johns Hopkins University."

While it is true that the USA has recorded more than 19,000 deaths, the number is way over that. At least 140,000 more deaths than that 19,000 figure...

The CDC prediction of 300,000 has been in the wings for awhile. Seeing the US hit the 200,000 mark next month is going to impact the election. Trump's sole chances are either a vaccine or Hydroxychloroguine for everyone. Even Trump knows the HCQ solution is bogus. It'll help some people but it may end up killing a bunch too since the dosages, medical interactions and other factors remain unknown.

It'll be fun to watch how our government handles this since it's been epically FUBAR'd to this point.

Another bad day for everybody livin in America.

Not everyone lived through the whole day.

If you are reading this, I'm glad you made it. My condolences if someone close to you did not.

1290 Americans died yesterday.

A day has 24 hours, 60 minutes every hour.

24 * 60 = 1440 minutes in a day.

1440 minutes / 1290 Dead Americans = 1.11 minutes per Dead American.

.11 minutes * 60 seconds per minute. = ~7 seconds.

What does this math tell us?

Somebody's Dad, Mother, Friend, Brother, Sister, Child died every minute and 7 seconds yesterday.

All day long, it never stopped.

Every minute and 7 seconds it happened again.

And each time it touched somebody, caused grief.

America blames president Trump for his poor handling of the crisis.

He can most likely kiss a second term goodbye.

People who want to ignore this crisis, pretend it doesn't affect them, change their views as soon as it DOES affect them.
